Everyone has a stash, right? Come on, you know you hide your stash like a dirty little secret! I personally have a big metal cabinet that all (or almost all, I'm running out of room, yikes!) my yarn is stored in down in the basement. Only really special people get to see it. I don't actually lock it, but hey you never know, some crazy yarn theif may show up maybe I should!!
Sooo, my thought is who has a unique stash? Where is it stored, how is it stored, and just how much is there? Kind of like "I'll show you mine, if you show me yours!" Details people, details! (email me pics/post it on your blog/or leave a comment, you choose)
I'll show you mine: It's a HUGE metal cabinet. I keep my yarn separated by brand and/or catagory/color, i.e...all the Rowan together, all my sock yarn together, all my PINK yarn together. Yes, I have a lot of pink yarn.

Contest runs from now until Sunday at midnight...the prize is shown below, my roomate will pull a name from a hat, knitted of course, the winner will be announced on Monday, October 25th:

Brown Sheep Lamb's Pride Bulky in Limeade and Charcoal!
Hi Stacey...now you have inspired a blog entry for tomorrow at my site....if I can do it. I'll post pictures there if it's alright. I'm a little embarrassed after seeing your organization! Welcome back! I like the new look.
Posted by: Lynne at October 18, 2004 06:40 PMI'm with Lynne - your stash is so well-organized! Mine's kinda all over the place. Hmmm... if I can figure out a way to document it, I'll be sure to post it on my blog. :-)
Posted by: Nancy at October 18, 2004 07:30 PMI feel like I was a little bit misleading...ummm...I chose not to show you the rest of the room that looks like a bomb went off in it. Sorry ladies...it only looks like I'm organized, but I do kind of have an obsession with rubbermaid containers!
Posted by: Stacey at October 18, 2004 07:59 PMwow. that's impressive. my stash isn't at all that impressive, but it takes one HUGE hobby lobby bag, a walmart bag, and a bag my mom crocheted. ;) you can view it here.. hehe
Posted by: Manda at October 18, 2004 08:31 PMwoops. guess you don't allow html. well, it's on the main page, or you can view it by permalink here: http://www.hello-lovely.org/archives/000445.php
Posted by: Manda at October 18, 2004 08:32 PMWOW you are well-organized! Very impressive. Do you use cedar thingys on each shelf or in some containers or...?
Posted by: Lauren at October 18, 2004 10:05 PMHey, Stacey...I do love the fact that you like to organize your yarn. Looks awesome! My stash is also in plastic containers, with an overflow in various baskets atop my washer and dryer. I'm not sure how to post a picture, but you can come by and see it anytime!!!
Posted by: Marsha Beach at October 19, 2004 08:54 AMWow is right! I don't have much of a stash at all, it's hard to believe that we come from the same gene-pool. I do have a great sister with an awesome heart who often shares her stash with other knitters. You're the best, Stacey! And, I have to say, very organized (at least your yarn! LOL)
Posted by: Whitney Boone at October 19, 2004 09:39 AMHere's my entry. No photo as my stash is all over my house. There are little pockets of shashettes in at least three rooms. Love that Lamb's Pride - just working on a project in limeade.

My yarn cabinet is 5'7" tall, 3'6" wide and 3'6" deep. Just to give you an idea... :) And boxes/bins in the picture contain yarn also. Seperated by type ie cotton, felting wool, scrap yarn, acrylic cones, roving.
Fun contest! My stash can be seen here; I keep it in the "vice cabinet" with the liquor.

That's most of it...rather unorganized at the moment (what is in the chest is pretty organized...if you go beneath the random articles and patterns and stuff I've tossed in on top to hide it from my daughter). The baskets usually sit on the fireplace hearth (would be behind you as you look at the cedar chest). The cedar chest was my grandmothers...it's an antique. This weekend I'll be clearing out a drawer in the guest room dresser to hold the Kureyon and the almost 40 skeins of alpaca that I have coming to me soon.
Posted by: Natalie at October 22, 2004 07:31 AMi dont actually have the capability to upload pics at the moment, but can i enter without a pic? my yarn is, at the moment, in two short end-tables, a basket next to my couch, two laundry baskets in FRONT of the end-tables, decoratively arranged on the top shelf of my computer desk (to look like a cornucopia for fall, of course), stuffed into the spaces on my shoe-rack not filled by shoes, and... due to some lovely baskets i recently acquired, it's also taken over 3 shelves of my bookshelves. yeah... i'm not allowed to buy any more for a WHILE.
