Finished Kittybeds!!

JesseCurledUp.jpg

My roommate and I finally finished and felted our kittybed's for the KittyBed-Along that Wendy helped put together along with PetFinder.com. What a fun group of ladies...making beds for senior pets, since this month is 'Adopt a Senior Pet Month'. This subject is close to my heart since I adopted my cat at a shelter here in Denver 8 years ago. Wow! I can hardly believe that it has been 8 years since I brought him home!!

This was a great quick project to knit...the pattern is one that Wendy designed and you can find on her website. I plan on making one for my cat...but I haven't decided if I will felt it or not...he wouldn't actually get inside the felted version, but I couldn't keep him out of it when I was knitting it and when I was waiting to felt it. Plus, I may want to make the one for him a little bit bigger. As you can see from the above picture, he's a big boy. I alway's tell people that he's not fat, he's just big boned...hee hee. Awwww, isn't he cute though!?!

I used left over Brown Sheep Lamb's Pride Bulky in a variety of warm colors...I think I used eight different colors and a few eyelash rounds at the top. You can see the inside if you want to! If I had to guess, it probably took about 6 hours total to knit...maybe a tidge bit longer. I was very happy with the results and I know that I'll probably be knitting more for the other cats in my extended family!!

Very cool bullseye effect.

I keep trying the "she's not fat, she's fluffy" routine. I'm not sure it's working...

I realized this morning that I've got ~30 pounds of cat wandering around here...and one of them is merely a kitten.

Gorgeous beds!

I like the beds- I should make one for my cat, although he seems to be more interested in knitted things that aren't designated for him.

I'm thinking about coming to the knitting meetup for Littleton next week- would that be ok? I'm not a Littleton resident, but thought it would be fun to hang out.

I love the kitty bed that looks like the sun. The colors are wonderful, a big hot pink sun, perfect.

Ooh, the colors in that unfelted kitty bed are wonderful! I need to make something like this for this little space in my boyfriend's bookcases, a spot he has left empty of books expressly for the cats to climb into. He requested that I make some sort of wooly bed for it, and I was deeply charmed. Inspirational you are!

Those cat beds are too cute. (I know, I know, I'm a little late to the comment party). I want to make one but I doubt my cat would appreciate it. You made me laugh out loud with the "he's not fat he's just big boned" since I say the exact same thing for my cat. However, he is 30lbs and looks like he swallowed a bowling ball so I'm not convincing anybody.
