R.I.P. Crusoe

CrusoeBefore.jpg
Isn't this a pretty sock...well, I've started it twice...and I'm not sure that I can stomach trying it again. Here's what it looked like about 3 minutes after that first picture was taken...Crusoe...R.I.P. Any suggestions on what pair of socks I should make if I decide not to make the Crusoe socks. Seriously, this sucks.

What happened?
How about Broadripple? I just knit up a sample one in Koigu. It goes really quickly and looks great.

oh sorry about having to rip, but i'm with you...if you can't knit it again, you just can't. hope you find another pattern soon. that's a fantastic colorway and any sock will look great rockin' those colors.

That yarn would look great as the Broadripple socks!

Thanks for the encouragement...and suggestions. I'm going to take a peek at these patterns today. Hopefully I'll be able to whip these out! For those of you who have knit the Broadripple, let me know how it knt up in Koigu. The yarn the pattern calls for is pretty stretchy, so did you change anything?

Thank you for your honesty. I too feel a bit as though I am knitting for....
the State Fair with my sockapaloozas. I think we are pressuring ourselves too much. If you decide not to make Crusoe, because time's a wastin, and thank Goodness for the knitting time the Oscars will afford tonight....
I suggest another rolltop and make them summery little socks, peds, I think they used to be called. Make a little tassel for the backs out of the same wonderful colorway.

I am addicted to socks in Knitting on the Road. Great patterns in there. I do think your sock pal will totally understand if they receive an email by the 15th instead of a sock:)

Oh, I'm so sorry that you ripped....what happened? As you know, I am of no help for sock patterns, I will try to see if I have any in any of the books I have.

I see you are starting Clapotis! Yay! It looks like you have just started so I don't know if this will help, but instead of using stitch markers you can purl the stitch that needs to be dropped. This seems like a real good idea to me, I have made 2 and I wish I did it in the beginning! Love the color of your yarn too.

Oh no, it was so pretty. What went wrong? Pick something simple. Pick something you know. No need to make some complicated pattern. That yarn is gorgeous and the socks will be beautiful no matter what pattern you use. Best of luck! :)

Poor sock, I'm sure you'll find just the right pattern for that great yarn. Are those pj's? They're cute :)

Well...I have decided to go a different route with my socks...to be unveiled later today! And yes, Vicki, these are pj's that I got at WalMart after Christmas for like less than $3.00! Gotta love a bargain!

I started the crusoe socks, ripped them because they were too small, started again with more stitches, turned the heel and got lost! So it lies there abandoned and I have now started Conwy from "Knitting on the road". Have finished one and am very pleased with it. I thought Crusoe was very pretty but didn't think the pattern was all that well explained. So don't worry, just do something simple, it will be lovely in that gorgeous yarn

That was lovely...why did you rip?

I'm so sorry that the Koigu socks didn't go as planned. The new Poppy ones are lovely! I'm going to have to try that Interlacements yarn you mentioned. I do love the stitch pattern of the Crusoe sock, even if it didn't work this time for you. Could you tell me the source of the Crusoe sock so that I could look it up? Is it online or possibly in a book or magazine I might have in my stash? Thanks.

If you go to threadbearfiberarts.com they have the pattern changed for Koigu instead of fixation. I am making them right now - fun. _Carla

I love how that color variegation goes...lovely.

it looked pretty! why did you frog it? I can't wait to see, though, what you decide on. and p.s. I feel your pain. I go back and forth on the pair that I knitted... ;)

OMG...I just found your blog and let me tell you..I am tearing my head out with these Crusoe socks. I have made many socks but this pattern sucks. There must be a typo on the "turning the heel"...the numbers are off. I have ripped twice. Nice to know it wasn't just me having trouble. I love the colorway of this yarn. Hope you found another sock to make. I got some ideas from your posts. Thanks :)
