The Stash has spoken

It's "Flash Your Stash" day here at Sheep in the City! (I heard about this through Margene, I'm not sure where it originated)

Once I started looking, I realized that I have lots of different kinds of stashes. I have the yarn stash:

...and here's a little bit more, the top bin is Brown Sheep and the bottom bin is the unfinished/indefinitely-on-hold bin. (there may be a few more "mini" yarn stashes that I'm currently working on, and so they reside upstairs in the living room.

I have the needle stash:

Straights (these are just the tall ones)

Circulars!

There is the book stash:

I really love books, I always have! Any hobby that I get into, I end up getting books for. I dream of having a room in my house someday that has one of those ladders that goes around the whole room, with floor to ceiling books! This is the new desk that I got for my studio (aka-my basement) that I now have all my painting/knitting books on, as well as all my beading stuff and my old computer. (I thought it was a good idea to have my old computer down there so that I can always get online and check for patterns, etc.)

Last, but not least, there is the FREE STASH that I recieved yesterday! A friend of my mom's called us yesterday and told us that a lady at her church had a car full of yarn and was giving it away. We immediately left to head over there...the promise of free yarn?! It was like the call of the siren's...we had to go right then, no matter that we knew we didn't need anything. Ha!

Here's what all this yarn is on the table:
•8 skeins of Phildar Elegance
•7 balls Anny Blatt:Coton Egypte in green
•16 balls Adrienne Vittadini: Angelina in red (this is Angora/wool/alpaca blend)
•6 balls Adrienne Vittadini: Angelina in brown
•4 balls of Adrienne Vittadini: Gianna in an off white
•3 balls of Adrienne Vittadini: Sophia in a dark brown
•10 balls of Trendsetter Paradiso in color #8
•18 balls of Trendsetter Cantu in a tan and white stripe (this kind of reminds me of R2 Rag yarn)
•6 balls of Lane Borgosesia Classico in color #10 red
•14 skeins of Anny Blatt Honey-Moon (mohair) in a dark aqua color
•11 balls of a mystery Mohair blend in Browns with a hint of pink.
•2 big hanks of off white nubby yarn
•6 cones of random bumpy textured cotton/?
•8 balls Trendsetter Piatina in white
•8 balls Red Sparkle yarn named Sax, in a brand called Omaghi Filati

Can you believe it? When we got there, they were down to the last couple of boxes and my mom's friend Julie said that a lot of the good stuff had been taken the day before. I have no clue what I'm going to do with it, so for now it goes into the stash. There you have it...my stash...it's a little bit scary to put these photos out there. But I thought I'd do it so that once again I'd be reminded that I don't need to buy more yarn anytime soon!!

**FYI to all Denver area knitters**
A few of us are gathering at 7:00pm tonight to knit at Stella's Coffee shop on Pearl Street in Denver. Come join us if you can!!

It's going to take me a while to recover from your Addis.

Holy crap, that was supposed to be the *bad* stuff? See, now you need to get a few of the Adrienne Vittadini books so that I can drool on them too. Your mom must have gotten some sweet stuff too...Hope you had fun last night, I wish I had been there!

Hi there Stacey ... wow, that's a big loot of stash you got there!! That's something to be proud of! Can't wait to see your finished Clapotis, and I'm looking forward to seeing you (hopefully) next Fri. night at Lesley's ... take care! PS -- lucky you, you have one of those elusive pink chibis!

Posted by: Jenifer at April 3, 2005 01:59 PM

WOW. I love your stash. What great additions you got too. I wish I could find someone giving away good yarn. Was she nuts? :)

Posted by: Vicki at April 3, 2005 08:46 PM

I feel a bit better now, on the one hand. I don't feel quite so gluttonous. But on the other, I feel terribly DISorganized after seeing your incredibly organized stash. Please tell me, is it organized alphabetically by color or yarn type? (hee)

Posted by: Norma at April 3, 2005 09:49 PM

First time here. Oh my! A stash indeed. When you stated that you love books and have a book for the crafts you create, I breathed a sigh of relief. I thought that I was the only one. Great stash! I'm a newbie; I have no stash...yet. :)

Posted by: Valencia at April 3, 2005 10:09 PM

were you still looking for a roomie? i would pay rent (even though I have a place) just so I could drool on your yarn. Alas, i doubt my kitties (or your Jesse) would share their people's attention w/o a squabble. I love the visualization of what I should aspire to (for yarn stashing...)

Posted by: Cyn at April 3, 2005 11:14 PM

Wow - that's a once-in-a-decade find! The last time I got free yarn it was all acrylic, all smelly, and came with a free cigarette butt.

Posted by: Megan at April 5, 2005 06:38 PM

WOW, found your site for the first time when I did an internet search for Vittadini Angelina--- you're so lucky!! If you want to sell, name your price... my email: jennydh@hotmail.com
