...a measuring tape could be so much fun? I went to lunch with 4 of my favorite people yesterday. My friend Laini and her daughter Hanna and my sister and niece Alice!

She's concentrating so hard to figure out how to push the button to retract the tape. Once she figured it out, she would let it snap back and saw"Oww" and then do it over and over and over again.
It was really fun to watch the little girls interact with each other. We ate at a little locally owned place called NoNo's. It's the greatest if you like Cajun food and food with a little extra kick, plus they have the best desserts around! They serve real sweet tea and pralines...but my all time favorite is their strawberry cake. Mmmm...it is so good!! Anyway, when we were close to being done, Hanna started to get fussy so I rummaged through my bag for something for her to play with and that's where the measuring tape comes in. I think she could have played with it for hours.

But then Alice managed to grab ahold of the end...it was really funny to watch!

Look at that face...doesn't it just look like she up to no good?!
my almost 2 year old son likes my tape measure, he's not figured out the button yet (I don't let him hold it long enough, who needs a soggy tapemeasure?!?) but he jumps and then laughs when I press the button and the tape goes back in.
It's amazing what kids are interested in, he once spent almost an hour playing with his shoe laces when he was smaller, kept him nice and quiet!

Posted by: Anna at April 15, 2005 02:56 PMWhat a cutie pie! I hate when people show off pictures of the sweet children in their world - it always gives me the havin a baby jones! I've already got two! Both of mine loved the tape measure. We seriously have to keep tabs on tape measures around here - they disappear faster than a wink. Also scotch tape. I think my son was a scotch tape junkie.

Posted by: Vicki at April 15, 2005 11:11 PMAunt Stacey, you're the best! I had fun with you and Hanna too. I've been spelling her name wrong on my blog, but I am only 8 months old. Can't wait to play with you next Tuesday!
My son loves playing with measuring tape, too. He loves to pull & click it in. I had to buy a new one for myself because he stole it for himself. So cute, though.
Posted by: Sarah at April 16, 2005 11:56 PMI recently had the same experience with a tape measure...except I was knitting in a bar and the one amazed by the tape measure was a drunk guy.
I guess somethings never stop amazing us? [grin]
You totally need to get that kid a ball winder.
