Clapotis, revisited.

HalfClapotis.jpg
Here it is...almost done with one 490 yard skein, I'm on the 11th dropped stitch of 13. It's getting close to where I can start the decreases. I am determined to get my Clapotis finished this weekend! On Tuesday the girls were very encouraging about it...they kept telling me that it looked like I had knit a bunch on it, and that it looked almost done. I don't know about all that, but their comments did make me want to keep going and finish this bad boy! My family is going to spend the weekend in the mountains in Vail, so I should have lots of uninterrupted knitting time. My mom and I may even sneak down to the little local yarn shop for a short visit:) RayLynn came over to hang out last night so I was finally able to take a picture of her Clap...she's really close to being done. Look how long it is. It's also really heavy since it's knit out of Artful Yarns Fable, which is a cotton yarn. RayLynn is holding mine up in the picture and it comes up roughly to her waist, her's on the other hand comes up almost from her head to her feet, crazy!

As we discussed the fact that both of us want a "lighter" version of this scarf, I decided that I am going to knit one out of Bamboo yarn...because I want to be just like Cynthia. Her bamboo clapotis is gorgeous, and just the right weight! So, again, here I am planning the next project when I'm not even done with this one...oh well. What's new? I had one skein in my stash that I bought when they first came out with this yarn, I just wanted to play with it, I never had specific plans. So, knowing that Cynthia used three skeins, I went back to my LYS and lo and behold...they had two skeins left. It was meant to be...I was supposed to knit this scarf with Bamboo! (ok, maybe that's a little dramatic) Here's the yarn...isn't it so pretty...all pink and purple yumminess. But, I'll finish the first before I start the second one.

On a different note, I should be getting my Bead it stitchmarkers in the mail any day now, I'm getting so excited! Seeing all the stitchmarkers that have been made in the last week has been so fun! If you didn't make it in the first round, Cara has started a round 2 that will be starting in June...go over and sign up, you know you want to!!!

Cool! I've been thinking about the bamboo for a clapotis too. If there were two skeins left, and you already had one, it was TOTALLY meant to be.

Hey! That's my clapotis!! I LOVE how it looks in that yarn. So pretty and pink and purple and girly. Of course, mine's taking FOREVER. But it'll be sooo worth it :)

No, it's mine! :D Or it will be. I'm planning my Clapotis #2 in the very same yarn. I can't wait to start it.

With all your new stitch markers, you could start the new one while still having the old one on the sticks! Your choice of yarn and color will be beautiful!

Um. I think if you started bambootis before finishing bonotis, you'd have two unfinished clapotis.

You could start whatever project you had in mind with the cotton ease though, esp with the lovely new hello kitty charms from Cathi!

Well, I guess bambootis will have to wait...damn it...Cynthia says so. That darn cynthia...always telling me what to do:) I guess I need someone to keep me on track though. Phooey! We'll just see about that.

Love the yarn- very jealous!

Oooh ... that bamboo yarn was definitely meant to be! I agree about the lighter weight version, and I've been stalled on my clapotis for the past month as well. But maybe I'll get back and finish her up! I really want to make one in Knitpicks sock yarn, like that sock landscapes or something. But, that might be a little excessive. (When have I ever cared about that?!) Take care and have fun in Vail! PS -- what's the LYS up there?

Jenifer-It's called The Yarn Shop and it's in Minturn. It's really cute, cramped, but in a cute way. They have great stuff...lot's of Rowan, Koigu (that's where I saw a Charlotte for the first time in person), lot's of goodies. I highly recommend going if you are already in the mountains.
