Amoxicillin sandwich

Guess what I get to do on Wednesday morning? Have a root canal. I woke up this last Wednesday morning and the left side of my face felt swollen...and sure enough when I got to work, my Dad and sister thought so too. They both strongly urged me to go to my dentist right then before it got any worse. You have to understand though...I have the sweetest dentist. He is this little old man that is soft spoken, gentle, and encouraging, but I despise going. I 9 times out of 10 have to have something done...and by the time I'm ready to leave I'm either crying or about to have a panic attack. Seriously. It seems so stupid, but a lot of times you just get left to "wait" in the chair with all that stuff in your mouth, and the drilling, and the burning smell. I have a long list of complaints, but I don't need to air those out. Luckily, on wednesday he just took an x-ray and saw that I did need a root canal, and I made the appointment. We'll see how it goes, I've had one before and it didn't hurt at all...everyone cross your fingers that this one will goes as well. Until then, this is what I get to take 3 times a day:) I'm off right now to clean out my garage. I have no idea how it got so filled with "stuff"! Then tonight I'm going to Cynthia's to knit. Have a great weekend everyone!

No fun! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. I got lucky and got my dad's teeth, I've gone for years without brushing regularly (many years ago...) and I've only had one cavity ever. I love getting my teeth cleaned cause that's all it ever is.

We'll be thinking of you. I work for a dentist, so I get to hear the sound of the drill all day long, so it doesn't freak me out anymore. But I do understand how it can. But, as you've experienced, root canals really aren't all that bad. Good luck!

Oh, I'm so sorry you have to have a root canal. They really aren't that bad, you'll just be drugged up for awhile and your mouth will be numb for quite a while afterward, but if you have "issues" with the dentist, well, that part won't be much fun. But once you're number up, just try to block it out and it will soon be over.

Oh, that sucks. I have dentist issues, too. They always find something...grr.
But you'll be find. Just go to your happy place :D.

You deserve some major knitting time with a simple project while you're hopped up on painkillers.

Hang in there!
I joke my teeth are as porus as balsa wood. I have ultimate sympathy for dental pain. Take care of you-- glad you caught it fairly early!

Ugh. That's not good! You'll need a day off of work, with a good movie line up, and someone over to help take care of you! (and of course, some happy knitting that doesn't require a lot of focus). See you tonite!

Oooh - dentists. I dislike them (a lot). I can completely empathize with you, and I am even cringing right now while reading your post. But the anticipation in waiting for the appointment is normally worse than the outcome, so you know you'll be okay. But I'll pray for you anyway. Be strong. And treat yourself to some yarn!

I am very sorry to hear about the root canal, but I'm sure it'll go as well as the first, and your picture really made me laugh!

Hope the root canal goes well. I had one recently and it didn't hurt either. I guess these dentist guys are finally getting the hang of it. I remember as a kid that every dentist visit hurt like CRAZY. Now they are done before I know it.
