Let me lure you...

...into my Charlotte's Web! I have talked and talked and talked of knitting this shawl. I think that everyone in blogland has knit this shawl at least once, and some knitters have even knit it more than once! Well, I'm finally going to do it. No more talk, I'm going to cast on this weekend. If you have been reading my blog from the early days you'll recall that I have mentioned this shawl before. I've even started it before, only to be ripped out due to a lack of joy in the color choices that I had made. Not this time. I think that I've fallen in love with these 5 skeins of Koigu or maybe those 5 skeins of Koigu...ahh! This is where you come in. I have two options. What do I do when there is a decision to be made and I just can't decide? Put it to a vote!!

Charlotte Choice1.jpg
This is choice number one. Starting with the smallest section of yellow and ending up with the bright pink. There is a nice *"brownand" in the middle of this one that I love, and it's not in choice number 2. I'm heavily leaning towards this one!
*this has become one of my favorite ways to describe this color...brownand...thanks Cathi!

Then you have choice number two. Starting with the same small section of yellow and ending with a light pink.

**for those of you that haven't heard of this scarf (are there really any of you out there?) here's a couple links for ya! The first one is for ThreadBear. These are the guys who helped spread the craze through blogland. The next is just a google image search that will show you a whole bunch of finished Charlotte's web shawls. Enjoy!**
I have also cast on for a Ruffle scarf...no reason why other than I felt like it. That's as good of an excuse as any, right? I brought my camera to work today to grab a quick photo, only to find out that it is out of power. Crap. I hate it when that happens! It'll have to wait, but until then go vote!!! Help me out!

The light pink looks too light. Stick with the bright!

Definitely choice n. 2 even though they're both great!!!

It's a fun shawl and your colors are so happy and bright. Perfect for winter knitting.

I bought all of the yarn and got the pattern and just couldn't do it. I might tri it again in about 14 years when my kids are both in college and will leave me alone long enough to count while I knit!

Awesome! Someone else who hasn't done Charlotte yet. :) I am actually going to be starting it in December as a class at the LYS. You will probably have yours finished by then though right? ;) Mine is going to look totally differnt from yours - earth tones. Can't wait to see it!

I'd say definitely go with choice number 1. The first choice of colors looks more "warm" to me and the second one is a bit pale. Charlotte's webs and Ruffles should be lots of fun!

I like the order of #1 the best. It's very pink--it will match your Vera Bag :) So how much of that is from String? And how much from your personal Koigu collection? I haven't made Charlotte, but one of my friend's did--it's a beatiful piece--maybe you'll inspire me to do it. Is the HP scarf done? Happy knitting!!

and i was beginning to think i was the only person out there that hasn't knit the shawl! the first color combo is great!

I have been tempted by the Web so many times, but alas, I haven't knitted one yet. I think both color combos are nice, but I like the first one a little more. It seems brighter and cheerier (is that a word?).

Kim asked me a couple questions, so I thought that I'd answer them here:
So how much of that is from String?-actually just one skein of the Charlotte. The bright pink that I end with.
And how much from your personal Koigu collection?
The rest was from my Koigu stash. Some of the skeins I picked up a few years ago and they were only $9.00 a piece. Prices have gone up! Sheesh!
The one thing that I've done to build up Koigu stash is that I tend to buy this yarn a skein here and a skein there while I'm on trips. In Charlotte 1 I bought the top yellow skein at A Knitted Peace on sale, the next one is from The Studio in Kansas City (still one of my favorite shops!), the middle dark pink/brown is from my Secret Pal 3 (she sent me 4 skeins!!!), the 4th skein is from Jessica Knits in Arizona, and the last one is from String! It's my travelling Shawl I guess?! :)

You're so clever with that image search! I never thought of that for projects. Nice link! And you're going to *lovelovelove* this knit. Going from stripe to stripe really makes it interesting. I highly recommend stitch markers between repeats (don't listen to Cathi on this) ... that way you can at first always be counting that there's 8 sts between markings as you're heading back on the w side row. (Does that make sense?) Enjoy!! I vote for #1 if that's what you love, btw.

PS I wore mine a la Ene's Scarf recently (scarf wound around neck) with compliments. You really are overdue for this.

Hi, I've enjoyed reading your blog and seeing your knitting adventures! Do you by chance remember the name of the store where you bought your KnitOne bag when you were in Arizona in August? I'm going there for Christmas (I live in Barcelona) and would love to pick one up.

Thanks!
