Thanksgiving with my family was wonderful. It was full of good food and lots of laughter...the way it should be! I did get sick over the long weekend, just a cold more annoying than anything, but at least it was relaxing. I had lots of time to knit and decorate my house for Christmas. Here are the projects that I cast on for over the holiday weekend, they became my constant companions. It's the start of a pair felted clogs, the Backyard Leaves scarf (for my International Scarf Exchange pal), and my Charlotte's Web (with color number 1!!). Why are they so small you ask? Well, do you notice all of those papers beneath the wooden bowl? That's the detailed instructions for these projects, involving lots and lots of charts. I know how to choose them, don't I? I am having to write out the instructions for the Backyard Leaves (from the book Scarf Style) because I cast on 5 times the other night and just kept screwing it up! I need to say a big thank you to the girls who encouraged me the other night while I was casting on 5 times, you know who you are! Seriously though, you'd think that I had never looked and followed a chart before! The felted clogs didn't cause me any problems and they've grown since this picture was taken. I've complicated things with the Charlotte's Web though by reading out the written instructions wrong. (Cathi, I totally should have listened to you about that?!) I've worked quite a few repeats now that I'm following the chart. I'll have a picture update when I start changing to the second of the 5 colors...I'm going to love this shawl! The other reason that all my projects are so small is the book that I picked up on Saturday night while I was knitting at Barnes and Noble with a couple of friends (2 nights in a row, that's what I like!). I'm not ashamed to say that I am a big Nora Roberts fan and that I read the afternoon away on Sunday. Even though I had trouble getting these projects started, I'm thinking that they are going to be really fun. I'm excited about knitting them and that's what I've been looking for! Okay, time to go knit some more before heading to bed. Tomorrow I'll show you what my SP6 sent me today!!! Knitty night!
**For those of you that have knit a Charlotte's Web before, what kind of edging did you do? I have a ways to go obviously, but I'm still undecided.**
Posted by Stacey at November 28, 2005 10:23 PMI did a little ruffle on my last Charlotte. Photo on my blog photo album.

Can't wait to see your Charlotte, once it's started. And I really must get to the bookstore and see if Red Lily has arrived here yet. I need my NR fix!
Posted by: AmyS at November 29, 2005 04:52 AMIs that bright colored knitted bit the clogs?? What yarns are you using! I looove the colors!
Posted by: Stacey at November 29, 2005 06:35 AMbackyard leaves is not the easiest project to cast on for... I had to get help after a bazillion tries (and failures). But if I can do it, I know you can! When did you buy the book? Sneaky sneaky!
Posted by: cyn at November 29, 2005 10:04 AMHey great projects started. I am doing clogs too and the charlotte's web. Any advice on it? I am having a hard times since the chart is about over for me. I would love another knitters suggestion.
Posted by: Nyxxie at November 29, 2005 10:30 AMI did the edging as in the pattern. Croceht loops and fringe. Scroll down to July 2004 projects if you follow this link - unfortunately not the best of my Charlotte pictures. http://members.shaw.ca/uliross/knitting_gallery2004.htm
I'm also a big Nora Roberts fan and have been waiting for the book I see in your picture. I can't get it before Christmas though since I put it on my Christmas list..... Ah well, it will make a good read between Christmas and New Years.
Posted by: Uli at November 29, 2005 10:41 AMUsing the knit-a-long as my reference, I put together a spreadsheet and note cards to knit my Charlotte making my life and the people who I live with lives much happier. I haven't looked at the chart since and it is MUCH easier to knit. Email me if you would like me to email it to you.
Posted by: Heather at November 29, 2005 11:30 AMA good book and knitting. If only we could read and knit at the same time! (Books on tape, yes I know they exist... but they mess with me. They never sound right.)
Love the yarn!
Posted by: Brianne at November 29, 2005 11:48 AMOh, so jealous. I haven't seen yarn that great around here yet. There is one shop that sounds promising (Ewe and I) that I hope to explore soon. Their hours don't go well for me though. They open after I am at work, and close before I am done. Were did you get the clog pattern? Are they simple (as in, can I get a few pair done before Christmas?). Good luck with the shawl, looks like more then I can handle, but I can't wait to see it when it is done!
