I'll be back...

I'm going to be heading to Oklahoma City in the morning with my parents and grandparents for a wedding. I can't get over the fact that I've taken so many roadtrips this year! New Mexico, Arizona, and now Oklahoma in the last few months. Pretty exciting locations, huh?! This one will be about 10 to 12 hours...one way...can you say knitting time?! I should have lots 'o knitting to show you on Monday!!!

Hi Stacey:
I've been a lurker of your website for quite a while now and I really like it. I felt compelled to write and let you know that I picked up a copy of the January issue of Creative Knitting magazine. One of the patterns in it is called "crosshatch," and includes a scarf, hat, and gloves that are the same pattern as "my so called scarf." The pattern is credited to Lion Brand Yarn Co. I really think that it is disgusting that a big company like Lion Brand has to surf the net and rip off patterns from bloggers like yourself who generously take the time to print a pattern for free. As sweet as you seem to be, I think that you might not be offended, but really with all the creative teams that they have working for them, it's just wrong that they have to blatantly rip off another knitter. I think another blogger named "sweet geogia" designed a hat to go along with your scarf (of course she gave you credit) and also published the pattern for on her website for free. Lion Brand is also offering it for free, but anyone who wants it has to go to their website....and is encouraged to use their yarn. The knitting community is getting pretty large and lots of people get info from several different sources. Don't they understand that there are probably hundreds of people like me who read knitting blogs, knitting magazines and ponder over patterns offered on yarn company websites? We just might catch on to what they're doing. Does everyone now have to copyright everything in the world to not get stepped on? I know I've probably gone on too long now, but I just get frustrated when corporate america takes something that was given for free out of kindness and community and then takes the credit. It's just sometimes aggravating.

Oh Well - Have a happy holiday-
Terry

I hope the trip goes well. I'm sad I'll miss it but I'm glad we don't have so many hours in the car with Alice. Hey, if you have so much time to knit will you have mom's fingerless mittens and alice's 1st birthday dress done for Christmas? Just kidding - love you sis.
