*this is me in my new T-shirt that says,"Got Yarn?" and Choppy, one of the fun crazy ladies who works at the shop! She was all decked out in her bathrobe and curlers again this year! I love it!
One of my favorite times of the year is when A Knitted Peace has their annual 3𠂹 sale. They open the doors of their store to a bunch of crazy kntters at 6:30AM and everything in the store is 30% off until 8:30. Then until 10:30 it's 20%. After that the rest of the day everything is 10% off. So, Cynthia and I had plans to get a good spot in line, which we did, and have as much fun as we could considering that it was so early and neither one of us is a morning person. We were about 10 or so people back in line when we arrived there at 6:00am, thankfully it wasn't too chilly! They opened the doors and everyone promptly scattered to the various corners of the store that held the treasure that they wanted to purchase. Obviously many people bum-rushed the needle section. I mean, who can resist AddiTurbo's at 30% off?! Thankfully, I got my size 0 and size 1's that I need to have for a toe-up/magic loop sock class that I'm taking this spring. (I can't believe that I have to wait until April to take that class!! I want to learn now!) I had a mission when I went in though...I was headed straight for the Opal sock yarn. My brother-in-law needed some and I wanted a particular shade that I had seen earlier that week. Yippee! I got just what I wanted! Then I had a momentary lapse in self-control. I went to the book section, can you see where this is headed? They had 2 of the Barbara G. Walker stitch pattern books so I grabbed those up, and I picked up a book on lace knitting, and the funny Knitorama book. I didn't do too bad...my Grandma did tell me to buy something that I "needed" with the Christmas money she gave me?! I alway's need new books...and yarn...and needles...ha! I also picked up some Jaggerspun Zephyr (50 Merino/50 Silk) in a Fushia color and a bright lavender. I'm thinking that I might make the Ene scarf from ScarfStyle out of the bright pink...but that's way down the road. (like after Cynthia gets further along on her's so that I can see and hear how it's going!!)

So, you may be wondering what yarn that is in a big pile in the center of the picture...well, we didn't just stop when we hit the sale at AKP. Where's the fun in that? We had gone to Colorful Yarns the day before to see what they had on sale for 50% off!! That's the big pile. It's Artful Yarns: Serenade. (70 Pima Cotton/30 Angora...can you say soft?!) I bought 10 skeins for $40. The kicker is that I had thought about buying this yarn a few months ago at full price!! I love it when patience wins out in the end. Of course, I'm undecided on what I should make with it, but that's never stopped me before. The colors don't really come across in that first picture, so here's a close-up. Isn't that a great colorway? It reminds me a little bit of the Knit Happens Lorna's Laces. We had to reenergize at this point, so we went to breakfast at the best breakfast place in Denver. Then it was on to String for a little knitting and chatting with Cassidy. What did I buy there with my gift certificate?! A skein of Helen's Lace in the bittersweet colorway.

That's all the lace yarn that I'm buying for now though. You heard it here...no more lace weight yarn until I finish my Charlotte and at least one other lace project!! (Maybe I do need to join Kim's knitalong?! What do you think?) It doesn't get much better than this...a whole day of hanging out in yarn shops. Unless maybe all the yarns on sale?! And it was. Sweeeet!
I am jealous, I was hoping to have the energy to get up and get over there before going to work. Sounds like a wonderful day! I had to suppliment with online yarn shopping.
Posted by: Jeni at December 29, 2005 11:35 AMPleeeeeeeeeease don't post any more pink yarn pictures! I promised myself I wouldn't get more yarn until I had knit something out of my stash, but when you provide handydandy links it makes it wicked hard. :)
Looks like a great time was had by all and on a serious note, I am so jealous! Can't wait to see what the pink yarn turns into!
Posted by: wenders at December 29, 2005 12:43 PMStacey--I truly fear for your sanity if you try and go three months without buying yarn :) Don't you love those Barbara Walker books? I got all four for my birthday last year. Let me know if you get anything from A Silver Needle on Saturday. Hope to see you soon.
Posted by: Kim at December 29, 2005 04:01 PMSounds like you had a great time:-)
Posted by: Kylie at December 29, 2005 07:04 PMThough my credit card thanks me for not going, I'm still sorry I missed out! What fun!
Posted by: Jenifer at December 29, 2005 07:49 PMMore pink than you can shake a stick at, my kinda girl!! I've seen that serenade many a time and yearned for it, but I have no idea what I'd do with it and I just have SOO much yarn that I don't know what to do with already.
Posted by: Vicki at December 29, 2005 09:31 PMOh, man, that was some knitty treasure to be found! I would say I'm sorry I missed it, but I guess I'm not, b/c I couldn't have done all that shopping, although I would have loved to have the BW books.
Posted by: Wanda at December 29, 2005 10:04 PMthanks for not ratting ME out yet. while I do not have buyer's remorse, i certainly have the addict's shame. you got awesome stuff that supplements your stash beautifully. i'm glad we don't fight over yarn, b/c it could've gotten FUGLY.
Posted by: cyn at December 29, 2005 11:19 PMI'm so jealous! I wish I had a friendly yarn shop in my area. I have two yarn shops near me, but they're not friendly.
Someday I'm going to open a friendly yarn shop. lol
I love the pink yarn.
I saw that yarn the other day and totally thought of you. Pink and green and soft. How much better could it get really? :D
Posted by: Michelle at December 30, 2005 11:31 AMHey Stacey!
I came accross your blog today and I love it. I can definitely identify with the stash overload. I love the colors you bought, too. Feel free to check out my blog at anytime. I'm unofficially doing the stash-along, too.
