The Olympic madness has officially started!! I have a feeling that this is going to be a crazy couple of weeks! I had people over on Friday night to kick things off, and boy was it fun! Michelle, Cynthia, Sharon, Wanda,Jeni, my mom, Whitney and Alice, and Tam were all in attendance. The last few people left at almost 1 in the morning! Crazy! (Click for a group picture) I'm glad that I had people over though...it helped me get excited about my project, not to mention all the yummy food that people brought. Thanks ladies!
Here's the progress on my shrug, on Day 3:

I am loving the look of it more and more...I just know that from here on out, I'm going to need to spend all my free time knitting! There were too many moments this weekend when I thought, "Ahh! I should be knitting right now!!", but I was busy doing other things. (stupid housework and laundry) I'm almost finished with the first of the 10 balls that the pattern calls for, and I'm loving the stripiness of this yarn. For those of you just joining me, the pattern I'm using for this shrug is from Noro- The World of Nature, Vol. 18. The picture in the book is just awful, and I never would have chosen to make it if I hadn't seen a sample knit up at String. (my local yarn shop) The color that I have chosen is number 95, and it takes 10 balls to make! I'm already looking forward to next weekend because our office is closed on the 20th which means it's a 3 day weekend!!! Yeah! Lots of much needed Olympic knitting!!
While the girls were over, I got to see Wanda's finished "Not So Shrunken Cardi"! I loved it! I almost didn't want to give it back! Because I'm sure that you want to see it...here are a few pictures of me modeling the sweater. Be forewarned that none of these pictures are great...but they give you the general idea. Tada!

The ever popular "mirror shot" that most single people have to post at least once for lack of a person to take the picture.

And last, we have the picture that I really don't like of me, but the sweater is so great...I'm willing to let this one in. (click here) I am adding this to my list of sweaters that I need to knit this year. I would be making mine just a few inches bigger in the...ahem...front area, but other than that Wanda's sweater fit great. Yep, it's going on the list!
I love that cardigan, the ruffled edge is cute and you've gotta love the fact that its fitted but not too tight. Great job modeling and being director of photography, you're so talented. thanks for letting alice and i crash your party even though I'm not ambitious enough to take on a whole garment in 16 days.
Posted by: WHitney at February 13, 2006 03:55 PMOh I LOVE how it's coming out!

Posted by: Chris at February 13, 2006 05:43 PMI love how your shrug is turning out. The Noro is just beautiful. I also love how you kept trying on my cardi like I wouldn't notice it if you kept it on? (heehee!)

Love, love, love, the shrug so far. The colors are amazing. You have a great eye! Wanda's Cardi is fab too! What talented group!
Posted by: Becky at February 13, 2006 07:05 PMOh, geeeeeeez. I see your sweater is so nice L*evit*ra and C*ialis want in on the action, eh? I'd leave that up there just for the comedy value, actually. :-D
Posted by: Norma at February 13, 2006 08:24 PMVery funny Norma:) Seriously...what's up with the spam comments? They are so annoying and half the time I have no idea what they are even talking about! I just noticed how dirty my mirror is in that picture, apparently I didn't do enough cleaning this weekend!
Posted by: Stacey at February 13, 2006 08:29 PMGreat cardi with the charming ruffled edges. I recently purchased some Noro Kureyon for the first time. I'm not sure how I stayed away from it so long since its so gorgeous!
Posted by: Liz D at February 13, 2006 09:04 PMI'm glad you are making it so I can finally see a good picture of it when you are finished! :)
Posted by: stephanie at February 13, 2006 09:33 PMthe cardi looked great on you! the shrug is such a pretty pattern... can't wait to cast on for one of my own!
Posted by: cyn at February 13, 2006 11:10 PMOooh - I love the shrug - pretty pattern, and gorgeous colours.
Posted by: Anne at February 14, 2006 02:20 AMThat sweater looks STUNNING on you--no, I am not sucking up. The shape is lovely (I have thought about making it myself) but the color is exquisite on you! And I love it with the pink shirt. Is there any way that you can bribe Wanda to let you keep it?
Props to Wanda for a great knit!
I love that shrug! I have had 10 balls of Noro Iro forever waiting for something worthy enough to use. Is this an Iro or Kureyon you used? Ps, the sweater is awesome! I wish i lived by your little group of gals!
Posted by: Sandy at February 14, 2006 06:42 AMRATS! I just went back to your original post about the shrug and i saw it is indeed Kureyon! Pooh! I have 5 balls of Kureyon with an idea to make this http://www.royalyarns.com/ptrn/NOR/NO-JE-NATLY/Poncho-Ribbed-Noro-Ellison.html
I think it would be great since i am still trying to lose a few pounds after my 6th baby and I could wear it!! It is pretty! I think it would be cute over a nice shirt and a skirt or jeans either one. I think it uses Iro...
Because of YOUR Noro shrug project, I have ordered the book and the yarn to knit it, too! It looks lovely, I can't wait!
Good Luck as your go for the gold!!!
