This week my mailbox has been very good to me! Oh my! I received my International Scarf Exchange scarf from Eva yesterday, all the way from Luxemburg! I knew that it was something special when I saw this label. Oh yeah...it's a hand made scarf!! It has to be my scarf exchange scarf! When I opened up the package, this is what I found!

Do you need a closeup of that gorgeous orange and pink yarn that she included, on top of making me scarf?! Okay...click for a closeup! It's 4 balls of Lana Grossa Mega Stoppino in color 202 (persimmon) colorway. Eva, I love it! I have to say that my favorite part about the whole package, besides the yarn and the cute snoopy zippered bags, was the little sheep keychain?! He's even wearing a little knitted hat?! (be sure to click on the highlighted words to see the pictures!) I went to lunch with the girls yesterday (my mom, sister, and niece) and they helped me out with the photo shoot of me modelling my new scarf!

Eva, the scarf matches the flowers on my jean jacket perfectly! This scarf is going to be well loved, I just know it! While I was opening the package on Tuesday night (you can see her face looking all curious in the first picture) Alice just had to get in on the action! And of course I had to take a picture! She's not at all dramatic?! Ha!

Then on Wednesday, I received the mittens from Stephanie!! They are beautiful. She says that they aren't as perfect as they look on the web, but I beg to differ! They look perfect to me! Thank you Stephanie...these are going to be worn and well loved as well. I love what these mittens represent...and that I got to be a part of it!

**there will be an update about my Olympic knitting soon...for now I'm just knitting, knitting, knitting!!**

are those coffee mugs behind you in the mitten shot?: Where were you? I love them
Posted by: kathy b at February 23, 2006 02:16 PMkathy b: Stacey's sister here. Yes, those are coffee mugs in the mitten shot and they are at my house (Stacey and I live just around the corner from eachother).
They are Frankoma GOP mugs (there are a ton on eBay and you can get them from the Frankoma.com site). I'm not necessarily a member of the GOP, but I love elephants.
They started making them in 1968 and have made a democrat and republican mug every year. The mugs feature the year and the names of the party in office on one side and the letters GOP on the other. Each year is a new color.
My collection ranges from 1968 to 2001 and I have about 20 or so mugs.
Posted by: Whitney at February 23, 2006 02:30 PMFirst off, Whitney...I just love the mugs. I also love the picture hanging on your wall. You are all the most creative and well decorated family I have every seen. Wanna come to PA. and decorate my house? Just great really!
Stacey, I love your scarf and yarn and mittens. Isn't it great to get packages in the mail. Makes your day. And Alice is just adorable. Sorry Whitney, I think she is Aunt Stacey's girl!!
What a great week! Lovely scarf - and that sheep keychain is about the cutest thing I've seen recently.
Wow. THE mittens. I'd probably frame them. ;)
Posted by: Chris at February 23, 2006 03:00 PMHarlot Mittens..... WOW!
Posted by: Scout at February 23, 2006 03:52 PMOh I'm soooooo glad you like the scarf. I was having cold sweats when I read your introduction again and you said you didn't want anything fuzzy... Is it long enough???
Yeah I picked that keychain because of the hat hahahaha. Those zippered bags are actually for toiletries, but I think they'd make a good small projects bag and a notions bag don't ya think???
Cheers, Knitting... oops, I mean Eva hahahaha
Posted by: Eva at February 23, 2006 05:03 PMWow, great gifts in the mail! Love the scarf and yarn ... just your colors! And the mittens -- yay to you! :) Mittens from the Harlot, how cool is that?
Posted by: Jenifer at February 23, 2006 05:43 PMThat little sheep is the cutest thing ever. (So is Alice.) You look so excited in the pics - isn't getting hand knitted goodies the best? Your scarf and mittens look great!
Posted by: jae at February 23, 2006 07:35 PMyou lucky girl!! your getting spoiled left and right!! my favorite part of all the pictures is alice's sweet little face peering curiously to see what auntie stacey got in the mail!!
Posted by: HarmonicSpectrum at February 24, 2006 01:47 AMYour lipstick looks great in these photos.
Posted by: Kelli at February 24, 2006 12:42 PMNice stuff, Stacey! You lucky girl. That pink and orange yarn is just delicious!
Posted by: Lynne at February 24, 2006 01:37 PMI was totally drooling over this post from the persimmon yarn which I think I literally blurted out loud at the computer "you are beautiful" to to the lovely pink scarf.
Posted by: Monica at February 25, 2006 10:03 AMI fell in love with the photos you posted of the Noro shrug from Vol. 18. I ordered the book and the photos are just awful. You can't tell what the sweaters actually look like; like you, I would never have wanted to make that sweater if I hadn't seen your photos of it. The yarn you're using gives so much more life to the sweater than the yarn initially used.
Posted by: Nancy at February 25, 2006 07:25 PMI loved the scarf and was feeling a wee bit envious, until I read on, then I got a WAY bit envious. How cool is that. Those mittens are so utterly lovely. Enjoy both beautiful gifts and that scrumptious yarn. Happy knitting. I'll be checking back to see your Olympic finals. Good luck!
Posted by: Jennifer at February 26, 2006 06:07 AMI checked out the frankoma site for the coffee mugs, and I think the pictures on their site of their mug doesn't compare to the photo on this blog. I think the mugs are wild!!
