Don't mix this...

...with this...

I cast on for my secret knitting project last night. Big mistake, and here's why. Since Monday night I've had a horrible sore throat, maybe the worst I've ever had. I don't ever remember chilling like I did Monday night...I just couldn't warm up. I was laying under a comforter and 2 afghans, and I went to bed at 9:30, which is unheard of for me! Needless to say, I've been taking medicine the last couple of days. So, I cast on for this project and when I'm up to round 4 or 5, I realize that for the last three rounds I've switched my main color and my contrast color. Argh. I sat there starring at it for probably five minutes. I was willing it to be right, rubbing my eyes to see if it was just a hallucination or a figment of my imagination. I tried to see how I could make it a "design feature". There was just no way it was going to work. Then I heard this little voice in my head. Very strange, it sounded slightly Canadian. The voice was telling me to rip it back....everything would be okay. What? You guys are probably thinking that I've lost my mind. No worries, I haven't completely lost it, but I did keep asking myself, "what would Stephanie do?". Yes. You know exactly what she would do...she'd rip it! So, that's what I did...right after I took another swig of that sore throat medicine.
**I know I shouldn't be complaining, it was only 128 stitches and about 4 rows. But, you have no idea how painful it is for me to rip back! I hate it with every fiber in my being!! (or should I just say, every fiber in my house?) But I survived, and I'm back to where I was before, so all is good!**
Soooooo sorry that you're feeling yucky...and that you had to rip on your project. Alice hopes you feel better soon!!!

Posted by: Laura at March 1, 2006 10:38 AMOh, no....I hope you took your temperature! If you have a fever, please don't bundle up!!! Take an antipyretic.(tylenol) The nurse in me said "oh, no! She is frying herself!"
I hope you feel better! I quite enjoy your blog!!

Hope you're feeling better today. You have a great excuse to be eating sucrets like they're candy though (although, I'm convinced that they ARE candy). Good luck with the charted colorwork. Very ambitious!
Posted by: Cyn at March 1, 2006 11:10 AMSorry you're feeling so yucky! You are still funny though despite not feeling well, I love reading your blog. Hope you're feeling better soon and get some rest!
Posted by: Whitney at March 1, 2006 11:27 AMBlech, I know what you mean, I can hardly knit when I'm sick, and it does seem like the perfect time! Humm, that pattern style looks familiar, but I won't say....

Hope you feel better soon. I also wanted to tell you what a great time I had with you and the girls at the closing of the Olympics! Thanks
Stacey,
Sorry you aren't feeling well. Tis the season. It stinks that you had to rip back your project. It is lucky though, that in your drug induced state, you didn't think the mistake looked good. Imagine what would have happened when you came off the cold medicine high. *shudder*. Hope you are up to par again soon.Becky
I had a chuckle as soon as I saw your "secret knitting" - I could identify that chart anywhere! So excited to see your progress - when you feel better!
Posted by: Jenn at March 1, 2006 09:15 PMI feel for you...I once tried knitting the Liesel scarf, while on morphine. NOT a happy time in my life. Lace+pain drugs=sobbing while knitting. Ok, not actual sobbing, just internal sobbing.
I hope you feel better soon!
Posted by: Jenn at March 2, 2006 01:27 AMHope you're feeling better soon! Sore throats are horrible.
I also know what your secret project is...having just completed what goes with it, I recognized the chart right away. It even looks like you just might be doing the same color thing I did...are you?
