I'm all about the Toe-Up!

Toe of STR.jpg

Over the weekend I took a toe-up sock class at my local yarn shop, A Knitted Peace. Let me just say that it rocked my world! I love this technique! I think I just may start loving to make socks! The other thing that I know...I love my Socks That Rock yarn. This is the yarn that Judy gave me on the retreat. (and yes, she finally started a blog!! Yeah Judy! Now you have to stop lurking and leave some comments every once in a while!) The color is called Spring Fling...and it is knitting up so beautifully. They really do make some of the prettiest yarn. Some day I'm going to have a collection like Cara...did you see her STR stash when she flashed it?! (scroll down to the very last picture!) Oh my, oh my...it made my heart flutter! And if you don't read her blog (why not, I ask?!)...you might not have seen that I won a signed copy of the Mason-Dixon book!! I wanted a signed copy, so this is my back-up just in case I end up not being able to road-trip it to Kansas City to meet them in person. I'm still trying to figure it out...where there's a will, there's a way, right?!

Next weekend I'm taking the second half of my sock class. I need to knit up to the heel by then, which shouldn't be a problem since I'm loving working on these babies. I also need to remember to take some pictures in class. My mom, sister, and Cynthia are all in the class with me, and both my mom and sister are using Socks That Rock! More photos of that to come!

**on another, more exciting note...my knitting buddy Jenifer has a pattern in the new Knitty! Go look at the T-Twist tee! Congrats Jenifer!! I already am trying to figure out what yarn I have in my stash for this project! I love it!**

Ooh! That toe looks like perfection! After my "Two Socks at Once" class, I'm going to suggest my LYS to do a "Toe Up" class. That will make sock class number three for me! :-)

I'm a recent convert to toe-up too. It seems so much quicker... and when you're done, you're done! No kitchenering!

Your STR is gorgeous. What's the colorway?

Well, I will leave the toe-up method to you guys. I love my top-down method for socks just fine! :-) Glad you are loving socks though and you seem to be enjoying it. That's why there are so many different methods for everyone to enjoy. How was the yarn shopping at String? I saw that you won a signed copy of Mason-Dixon knitting. Congratulations! You're winning everything. I really would like to go on a road trip to KS, but don't think I could get the days off from work :-(

Winning a signed copy is most certainly not an excuse not to come see me...I mean Kay and Ann. Right. :)

LOVE the sock. I made one pair toe up, I'm thinking I should revisit that technique.

I have yet to master any of the toe-up cast ons I've tried. They continue to elude me. I think this in one I'm just going to have to break down and get live help on. They're very cool looking. I love that colorway of the Socks That Rock. Beautimous!!

The yarn is even prettier knit up. What a nice toe. I have only done toe up once, better try it again, especially with Socks That Rock. Note: I am not lurking.

see, I'm not quite sold yet on the whole toe-up thing. Although your sock definitely makes me want to give it a good try again. Seriously, that toe is really fab! Way to go. :)

This toe looks just so perfect. It makes me want to start a toe-up right now!

YAY for socks that ROCK! They look great!

What a gorgeous colourway!!!
What kind of cast-on did you use? That's a PERFECT toe!

Congrats on your prize - how cool!!

And welcome to the world of toe-up socks. I've never knit anything else, and I love it.

Definitely we need to see pictures of your class. :)

I love that colorway!! Was wondering, what cast on method did you use? It looks great!

I learned toe up socks over the weekend, too! One of my knit buddies showed me and I love it! This weekend I'll learn the heel, too.

I love that yarn you're using. Very springy. (Is that a word?)

what beautiful stitches. Your tension is great and I love the yarn. Where can I get some? I live in the frontier and have to shop on line!

what kind of a cast on did they teach you? I have to get some of that socks that rock -- it is so pretty and everyone raves about it.

Yay Kansas City! Hope you make it up here, the Yarn Shop is fun. :-) No longer a pink wall, btw, but more of a pink corner.

Hey thanks, Stacey. :) As for that STR ... I *so* need to find some some day ... your colorway is so pretty.

Oh, I wonder how easy it would be to learn the toe up from the Sensational Sock book, I may have to give it a try, those colors look great.

Posted by: Jeni at April 11, 2006 03:34 PM

Which toe-up method did you use? It looks perfectly perfect!!!!!

By chance, would you be attending Stitches Midwest?

Shweet socks! Is that knit on DPNs?
I love the colors. Keep on truckin'!

You make a beautiful sock and you're not even done! Looks like you are using circulars? I think that is the prettiest yarn I've seen in a very long time. Gotta Google it since I live nowhere near anywhere it is sold! Maybe Ebay?
