Crochet...here I come.

I finally found a how-to crochet book that I can understand and really learn from. I should have known that it would be from Debbie Stoller because I absolutely loved Stitch and Bitch when it came out. I hadn't been knitting that long, and I'm pretty sure that it was the first knitting book that I ever bought! Last night my mom and our friend Jan and I all went to the booksigning at the Tattered Cover. It was so fun meeting Debbie in person and hearing her funny sense of humor come out. She had a whole bunch of samples from the book with her...and I have to admit, I was pleasantly surprised, I would actually make quite a few of them! Of course, I had to have her pose for a picture with me after she signed the book. I really liked the shrug that she had on...maybe that will be my first crochet project? I'm hoping to really dive in and try learning to crochet this summer.

I'm hoping to get some good knitting time in over the weekend. Maybe catch up on a couple neglected projects like the Liam Blankie...I only have 2 of my 14 squares done! Got to keep moving on that since the end of June will be here before I know it! Have a good weekend everyone!!

I'm happy to help you out, if you'd like. I actually am not that fond of the Happy Hooker. I like Erika Knight's book much, much better - but it probably isn't set up for beginners. I'll share it with you, if you like.

Oh, I'm so jealous you have a photo of you and DS! I'm glad you had a great time and I'm sorry I missed you guys!

I just took a "crochet for knitters" class and did find it fun. I was just looking at a way to expand my knitter's arsenal, but I am finding myself eyeing crochet patterns here and there!

Love the picture--I loved both of the Debbie Stoller books too! And your Charlottle looks FABBY with your smile...!

Liam Blankie--could those squares be your portable knitting? I always have something in my (pink) bag for knitting on the go, a sock or something simple. Mitred squares are simple.

I just love your Charlotte....and I want to make a Kiri too! Hitting MDS&W next week, hope to pick up yarn for those....you think I will have any selection? hehehhehe

Hi Stacey!
I will be sending square-knitting good vibes your way this weekend, as I am making a baby afghan for my sister's little girl, who will be born in September. A many-thousand-kilometers-away knit-along! Yay!
Cheers!

Glad you got to go to Tattered Cover and get your book signed. Thanks for helping out with Alice that night too. I think making her a blanket too will be really fun, we won't be under such a time crunch though!

I'm not sure which one of you looks best in that picture: you, Debbie, or Charlotte...

Aren't we lucky to have so many visiting knitting authors? I see that the Yarn Harlot will be stopping in Denver sometime this year. Maybe she's coming to visit her mittens?

Your Charlotte looks wonderful. I may have to add that project to my "must make someday" list.

I am so jealous that you met DS. I learned how to knit from her book. Good luck with the crocheting! I got her Happy Hooker book, and I am hoping to pick up a few techniques from it.

Now that is photo worth framing or put on your knitting bag! If I met DS I would make such as ass of myself babbling and rambling. You look cool as a cucumber! And the shawl looks gorgeous too!

I like the look of crochet but can't seem to understand it. Maybe Happy Hooker is the answer.

So cool! I've wanted to learn how to crochet, but I am left-handed and it is a pain. Good luck!

Lucky you!! I have high hopes that her book can teach me where so many others have failed. :)
