I survived my first knitting class! It went off without a hitch...and I was able to relax and enjoy myself during the process. It was a little weird at first to be on the other side of a knitting class. They were looking to me for the answers?! What? But, I really did have fun. I had 5 ladies in my class, 2 of which I knew before the class. Julie, who is pictured above on the right, reads my blog on a regular basis (Hi Julie! Leave a comment already!!) and Nachaele I met through a knitting group and she's become a close friend.

After class I met up with some of my knitting buddies at Colorful Yarns and we knit until they closed at 5:30! That night while Tiffany and I were watching the 2-hour season finale of CSI (this was my second time watching it...this is what happens when I'm the local go-to TiVo girl for my friends who are busy on good TV nights!) I cast on for the baby Bolero from One Skein. It's so cute and tiny! I made some good progress that night and on Sunday afternoon while I was babysitting Alice (she was napping almost the whole time!) and watching a movie called "Something New". Check it out if you get the chance! This little Bolero will be done in the next day or so and I should have pictures of all the felted Mary Janes coming too!!

Hey teacher lady! I'm so proud of you, I'm sure you did a great job. I was just talking with another knittin' family (the Atkinson ladies) this weekend and when I mentioned you teaching, they thought it was a perfect fit! I love the "ba-lel-o" and can't wait to have Liam's newborn picture taken wearing it! You're so awesome!
Posted by: Whit at May 22, 2006 11:33 AMI had to go look at your posting of the knitted up Mary Janes to make sure mine looks right and it does!! I put a novelty yarn in that has some misc colors and silver. I can't wait to see them felted up!! Tonight Rick plays basketball, leaving around 6:20 pm and returning around 9:15 pm or so, so lots of uninterupted knitting time ~ maybe I will get my 2nd one done and felted too!
Posted by: Nachaele at May 22, 2006 11:48 AMYo teacher lady! I need some help! ;-) You are a perfect match to be a knitting teacher. You are almost done with the bolero, that is so cool. Can't wait to see the finished results!
Posted by: Wanda at May 22, 2006 12:27 PMCongratulations on your teaching! I'm sure you were wonderful!
Posted by: christine at May 22, 2006 12:46 PMI bet you're such a great teacher! Now if I can just finish my first pair of clogs already ...
Posted by: Jenifer at May 22, 2006 01:28 PMYay! So glad the class went well. I knew you'd do great.
Posted by: kelli at May 22, 2006 02:59 PMI just finished that tiny bolero as a shower gift and it's officially my favorite baby sweater EVER!
It is wierd being the teacher, isn't it? I'm getting better at troubleshooting mistakes, but it's still hard sometimes.
Posted by: Brynne at May 22, 2006 06:22 PMCongratulations on conducting your first class! I am sure you were fabulous:) Your current projects look like they are loads of fun! Can't wait to see all the clogs you've made.
Posted by: Marisol at May 23, 2006 11:56 AMGlad your class went well! Those baby boleros are SO fast and so cute! I did 3-needle bind off at the shoulders and then picked up and knit the sleeves instead of knitting them flat and sewing/seaming.
Posted by: Chris at May 23, 2006 12:46 PMCongratulations with your first class :) I'm glad it went well. Those clogs seem like they'd be a fun project, and seem relatively simple too!
Posted by: Kristin at May 23, 2006 01:32 PMWell, Whirly girl, I am so happy your class was fun. Do you have a whirly bird hat?
Posted by: kathy b at May 23, 2006 04:28 PMlove the color for your bolero! i'm making one in shrimp right this minute. and i can't wait to see your felted mary jane's.
