Well, it has been a week since my last post. I can't seem to pull myself out of this blogging slump. I have tons to talk about, but just taking the time to write something has required too much effort lately. Yuck! I hate being in a funk.
So, what have I been up to? I've been teaching tons of classes. (felted clogs and beginning knitting) Then last weekend was the second annual gathering of Camp Wannaknitknit! Remember last year? (if you didn't get to read all about it...look here and here! It was amazing to be in the mountains all weekend (friday through monday) with my knitting buddies. We rented a condo in Keystone. Just look at the surroundings: (thanks Nachaele for the pictures!)

Here is the super secret sewing project that we were working on last week. They are little drawstring project bags that Michelle wrote a tutorial for over at her blog.

The whole weekend was almost non-stop knitting...it was wonderful! Some of us took the occasional break to play a card game or two. You've got to rest the hands every once in a while! I made tons of progress on my little stripey top for Alice. All I need to do now is knit the little cap sleeves and finish seaming it up, and then it will be done. This weekend away with my friends was definitely what I needed.

On a more sobering note, my Dad has had some news from his doctors. He and my Mom are going to head to the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston for more tests and to see if he can be a part of any clinical trials that are going on now. For now the future is unknown...but I'm trusting that God is in control and things are going to work out. My Dad actually started a blog about his health. This way he doesn't have to say the same thing over and over to all the people that ask him about how he's doing or if there has been any news. They can just go check his blog. I think it's a great idea. Feel free to check it out if you want to.
Thanks everyone for all the kind emails that I've received this week asking how I'm doing and if I'm okay. I am. I just keep knitting. Hopefully my blog blahs will go away soon! This weekend I'm going to be doing a massive house/garage cleaning...yuck. But it must be done. I've also had a friend recently suggest that I need to start painting again. If I get done with the cleaning, I'm thinking that I'll bust out the paints and have some fun with that. Have a great weekend everyone.

Posted by: Ann at July 21, 2006 03:33 PMStacey--I am so glad to hear that you had such a wonderful time at the condo with your fellow knitting buddies! I am so sorry to hear that your dad has to go to Houston but it sounds like you guys are a tight-knit family and with God watching over you all, I know you will all be okay.
In the meantime, your orange/aqua sweater looks super cute and i can't wait to see it modeled on the cutie that gets to call it their own! :o)
I liked the bag pattern so much and it looked so easy to do, i'm going to give it a try myself. if it works out, i'll make sure to send you and Michelle one...I got this really really cute fabric i'm itching to try out! i'm just waiting for my new sewing machine that is due to arrive next week! the first one was defunct from the factory. hopefully this one will do the trick!
take care and have a great weekend! :o)ek.
Nothing wrong with just knitting! Hope things go well for your father.

Posted by: cyn at July 21, 2006 04:57 PMI'm so sorry about your dad. Anything having to do with a cancer center is scary I know. But he has a great family to support him and that makes a huge difference.
On a happier note, you must have had the most amazing weekend. Someday I'll make it out your way :)
Posted by: Vicki at July 21, 2006 05:40 PMSorry about the news. I hope things go well for your dad and your family. It's not a fun time any way you slice it. Blog slumps don't seem to be atypical this time of year. Have a great weekend.
Posted by: terby at July 21, 2006 09:40 PMAll of the power of knit buds go to you and the family. And you know we have considerable positive power!

Posted by: Jen at July 22, 2006 02:32 PMThose bags are really cute! Sorry to hear about your dad's health issues. I'm in Houston so if they need any information about stuff here in H-town or if there's anything I can do, just let me know.
Posted by: sarah b. at July 22, 2006 02:55 PMI hope your blahs go away; I miss your posts! The little bags are really pretty.
Posted by: Laura at July 22, 2006 05:28 PMI am glad you are back, I miss reading about what you are doing since I haven't been able to see you much lately. This is also going to be a tough week for getting together, we have a deadline at work and all need to work over-time. Grrrr! That really cuts down on knitting time!
At least I will see you on Friday at Tattered Cover! Miss ya!
Posted by: Nachaele Olson at July 23, 2006 04:44 PMSounds like you had a great trip, and that your Dad is getting the care -- and prayers -- he needs.
Fingers crossed and many more prayers for you and your family in the coming weeks.
