From Houston with love!

Moms Houston gift.jpg

My Mom went and visited a few yarn shops while she was in Houston...and of course she picked up a few goodies for me! Awww...thanks Mom! She went to Yarnotopia, Yarns 2 Ewe, and Mary Charles Yarn Co.

I'm pretty sure that all of my stuff is from Yarnotopia. It's a DellaQ drawstring project bag, a skein of Hill Country Yarns Sweet Feet sock yarn (in the colorway Chocolate Covered Kisses), and last but not least a skein of Koigu!!

What my mom didn't know is that just recently (like last week) I received a skein of Hill Country Yarns from the ladies AT Hill Country Yarns!! Can you believe it? They picked my blog to be one of the test knitters for their sock yarn! They sent me a BRIGHT pink skein called Bubblegum. I can't wait to find the perfect pattern to go with this sock yarn...you'll definitely be seeing more of this yarn in the next few weeks. I'd love some suggestions though. Here's one source of knitterly goodness...have you seen the amazing knee socks that Cara is knitting?! Holy crap those are cool. I'm very tempted...hmmm. I think that when I get home, I'm going to bust out the sock books that I have and start scouring the internet. The latest issue of Knitty seems like a good place to start! Email me or leave a comment with your sock suggestions!!

Some of you have asked about the status of my Knit-Bloggers afghan. Well...it seems to have been put on hold for the moment. I plan on busting it out on the 1st of September. You can hold me to it! Well, everyone else is packing up as I type this entry, I should probably be helping them. It's back down the mountain to work and reality. Speaking of reality...it's the season finale of "So You Think You Can Dance" tonight! Oh yeah! I'll be watching it for sure. I'm not ashamed to admit my obsession with this show because I know that I can't dance!! A certain soon to be Boston knitter is just as obsessed and will be joining me!!

Ooh I am so jealous! I've had my eye on some Hill Country Yarn for several weeks. I might just have to break down.

Aw you're so sweet! I'm loving the knee high right now. LOVING IT! There's a link on my site for the pattern I've been using. Ir's very easy - plug-n-play and I'm so happy with the socks.

Have a great day!

Lovely new yarn! You have a great mum!

And congrats on being a test knitter - that's got to be fun :0)

I AM a Boston knitter and am obsessed with SYTYCD. I am going to finale party tonight, with my knitting, and will try not to yell at the TV. I have a strong opinion about who should win. ;)

Have fun tonight!

Hey, glad your Mom was able to get out and about in Houston. I want some of that Hill Country yarn. Lovely stuff! Widdershins is a cool pattern, as is Baudelaire.

SYTYCD rocks!
and so do you :-)

Thanks for your help with the kids this morning. You're the best sister. I love the new Hill Country Yarns, how fun that you get to be a test knitter, I'll have to see what you knit with yours so I can copy you and knit some fun socks with the one Mom gave me.

I had a lot of fun with the Crusoe pattern from knitty... you get cute socks and it really shows off the colors in the yarn.

I love the Chocolate Covered Kisses yarn! Yummy.

I totally forgot that was tonight! Season finales are bittersweet though...I will miss Benji ;)

All those colors are just so pretty!

Oh my goodness, those colors are gorgeous! Knitty has a pattern for RPM socks. That would be pretty cool, because the pattern wouldn't interrupt the colorway and still be a little different from plain ole socks...not that there's anything wrong with those, either ;)

speaking of the afghan - did you ever receive the ball of karabella margrite i sent for it?

Posted by: anna at August 13, 2006 02:58 AM

Yarntopia is awesome - the ladies that own it are totally great. I've been meaning to pick up some of the HCY in that same colorway (the chocolate covered kisses one). I'm looking forward to see how it looks knitted up!

Ooohhhh...I love the chocolate covered kisses!! I need some of that yarn. Aren't you the lucky girl, getting to be a test knitter. Boy are you popular on the knitting blog circuit. And so loved by your family. I am keeping your dad in my prayers. Have fun knitting!
