Sunday I attended the official send off for Cynthia. She's moving this Saturday to Boston. I'm trying not to think about it too much though...this is the second close friend of mine that has moved this summer. It makes me sad. There are a few good things about where she's moving too though. One is Rhinebeck. I may just need to visit in October and make the trek to the New York Sheep and Wool festival with her. Two, she's a stones throw from Webs! Hello?! I order stuff from them here in Colorado, so of course I'll jump at the chance to visit in person! I'm sure there are many other really cool things about Boston, but I'm not aware of them. Or at least I'm not willing to admit to them...because I think she should stay. Enough about that though...I'm not thinking about it anymore.

Let's talk about something else. How abou the fact that I'm almost done with Alice's stripey sweater. It's been in this state for over a week now. I need to seam up one more side and put the sleeve caps on and it will be done! Of course, I'm procrastinating on the finishing. That's my M.O. though, it's what I do. This is definitely one bad habit that I need to break.

I picked up some of this lovely Koigu a few weeks (or a month) ago at String. Cassidy described the color well when she said it looks like it has had a good soak in a glass of red wine. It's real pretty. I'm plugging away on my Malabrigo pink sweater...I'm in love with it. I've knit quite a bit of the back and I plan on taking a picture of it when it's not so boring looking. This gives me some motivation to get started on the front of the cardigan where all the exciting knitting is. Okay...gotta run, I'm teaching tonight and I need to get some stuff ready for my class.
thanks for all the awesome gifts. you have to come visit, just so we can play dutch blitz. i wish i didn't have to leave.

Posted by: Cara at August 15, 2006 04:46 PMYou should go to Rhinebeck if you can, Cara sounds excited to see you, as will Cyn, of course. Now go ahead and finish Alice's top! You already let Jeni beat you!! ;-)
Posted by: Wanda at August 15, 2006 05:05 PMcan't wait to see that cute sweter all finished! But of course it's not like I am quick to finish anything, myself.
Posted by: michaele at August 15, 2006 06:24 PMThat's what I do to, procrastinate on the finishing. At least I'm in good company!
Posted by: Cheryl at August 15, 2006 06:57 PMCome to Rhinebeck! It is a lot of fun. They have wonderful things. And since I finished classes and work for my brief (all too brief) break all I have been doing is buying and knitting malabrigo. I am too malabrigo as you are to koigu. ;)
Posted by: Monica at August 15, 2006 07:37 PMOhh--I think I hae that color too. Let's knit socks together!
Posted by: Vickery at August 16, 2006 08:44 AMThe stripey sweater is great! And I'm looking forward to seeing the Malagbrigo sweater - how do you account for colour variances between skeins?
Posted by: Charity at August 16, 2006 10:17 AMYou should definitely go to Rhinebeck! I plan to go, so maybe we could meetup. I hear it is really great.
Posted by: sarah b. at August 16, 2006 05:38 PMI have finishing too, but finish the damn sweater already. Alice will love to wear her Aunt Stacey sweater to preschool. (btw I still need to put the buttons on the Poetry in Stitches sweater for her too)
Posted by: the brother-in-law at August 17, 2006 01:18 PMI think I just bought the same color Koigu. It's hard to capture the color in a photo, but I love the red wine description!
