That little *#@^!

Jesse_YarnMess.jpg

My cat Jesse is very respectful of my yarn. He's a good cat. He knows that it is important to me, therefore he is not supposed to touch it. Well, this morning, I'm getting ready to leave for work, and I'm looking for him. This is a morning routine for two reasons. One, because I like to know that he's not shut in closet or stuck somewhere. Two, because he's my baby kitty and I have to say good-bye to him. (yes, I know that this makes me sound like a freak) So, I'm looking everywhere...in his special basket, under chairs and couches, under my bed, in the closet, basically everywhere.

Then I notice that there is an awful lot of yarn on the floor of my loft. Hmmm, that seems like more yarn than usual on the floor. Sure enough, he had scooted out all the feltable wool and left just enough for a little padding and a nice cozy nest for himself. This better not be some strange new behavior and become a habit! (you all know that this could get much worse if you are a cat owner) I mean, come on...he's 10 years old, almost 11. I don't need to have new behaviors showing up. We had a nice routine going here. Stacey gets to play with the yarn, not Jesse. After I found him, I slowly backed away to grab my camera and document the moment and he moved, of course. Then he gives me that, "What? What did I do?" look and the, "Aren't I so cute?" face. I'm such a sucker.

We'll see what the yarn looks like when I get home from work today, everybody cross your fingers for me!

Saying good-bye isn't strange at all! I have to do a headcount when I leave too, because once one followed me onto the stairwell one dark morning and was sitting outside my door when I got home. Now they even come when I call out "kitty headcount!"

Awwwww, he's such a cutie -- you surely can't be mad at him for long? And if he didn't *hurt* any of the yarn . . .

I must also be a freak, 'cos I can't leave my house without saying bye to Abby and usually giving her a pat or kiss on the head before I go.

Fingers crossed! He looks like a sweetie . . . maybe he just needed something to remind him of you while you were gone??

And, I always make a point of saying goodbye to Chappy before I leave the house. Not only do those pets help me get through the day, that way HE knows I've left. Because sometimes, if I've stepped into another room or gone out the mailbox or something, he runs around searching for me, clearly worrying that he's lost me . . . of course, he's a dog, and they are a little clingier than cats... (grin)

What a blissninny kitty! And for the record, I always say goodbye to my kitties

Oh no! Could be trouble, but aweful comfy-cozy for him! Good luck.

Like Jenn i also do a head count and say goodbye i think thats why i am normally late to work :)

He is just soooo cute! (fingers crossed)

Saying goodbye is not strange. I do it every morning and I have five cats. What I found interesting is that forty million cat owners by their cats presents for Christmas (the tidbit didn't mention Chanukah which I thought was interesting for other reasons), but anyways, I am still considering buying the bird dvd for my cats for Christmas. Oh, I digress...

Awwwwwww, he's such a cutie, though. We've got a kitten at our place right now that looks just like a mini-Jesse. (the mom abandoned it so we are feeding it) It's only 4-5 wks old and it's full of it....I can only imagine what it could do to a yarn stash!!

he just needed to remind you who's boss, is all. what a stinker! good thing he's so darn cute!

I think it's so funny that you preface your post with how good he is, blah, blah, blah and then whammo, he's all up in your yarn! I love it!

aaah let 'em play...he's so cute and snuggly!! you need to start taking him yarn shopping with you so he can pick out his own stuff to sleep on.

My boy Parsley Ann will do this too! He takes it from the living room all the way up to the 2nd floor of the house. He piles them on the top of the stairs. It's kind of funny watching him do this, though, because he sometimes meows while holding a big skein of yarn. Ha!
