Two words. Public. Transportation. Although Cynthia has her car in Boston, for the most part, we rode the train everywhere we needed to go. That meant at least 20-30 minutes of knitting time, each way, that I wouldn't have normally had. Who wouldn't want to knit on their way somewhere, instead of being the one driving? Okay, so I know that some of you know that my commute to work is only like, 2 minutes, but I'm trying to prove a point here! There seemed to be more "extra" time to knit. That's my story and I'm stickin' to it!

I had to take a picture of Lucia's daughter, Miss B. at Rhinebeck. Dude, she was knitting with pencils...it doesn't get cooler than that!

Here's my last picture from Rhinebeck...which I totally snagged off of Jeni's blog, but it's the only one that I liked of all three of us together. This trip was so fun...I still can't believe that I went clear across the country in pursuit of fiber, but I'm so glad that I did!

dude! pencils?? awesome. great pics from your trip.
p.s. i have some good news....denver in december!! yay!
that theory works great, unless you barely use the public transportation b/c the only place you go is school, and the ride there is only 3 minutes long. HOWEVER. We'll see next year, when I am sure to use the T more often.
In any case, i fully support the idea of you moving out here so you can increase your knitting time!!

Posted by: Jenn at November 1, 2006 01:24 PMIsn't that the only picture of the 3 of us? And that other picture of me sucks, I say sucks.
But wouldn't my 20 minutes commute be great in the mornings if I could knit!
Posted by: Jeni at November 1, 2006 03:08 PMI'm all for public transportation as a means to getting more knitting in my day.
Posted by: Wanda at November 1, 2006 03:17 PMPublic transportation is great for knitting until you commute during rush hour and then it's all discomfort, body odor, and bumping.
Posted by: Monica at November 1, 2006 06:27 PMHa! You had a photo op with the sheep, too! That thing was too funny! I love love love public transportation, just wish we had a better system of it down here.
Posted by: sarah b. at November 1, 2006 07:01 PMi can only knit on the bus in the morning ride in. on the evening commute home i get ill feeling...
although all this reading of knitting is making me want to go work on my mom's feather and fan scarf (i'm only doing a thin, 22co run of it...looking COOL!).
Posted by: shannon in oregon at November 1, 2006 09:06 PMLove the photos! I live just outside Boston, but I hate the T!! :)
The pencil knitting is great. Used one at a dr's office recently when I forgot a cable needle. But I think the scratchy nature of pencil points requires more patience than I possess!!
Posted by: Annie at November 1, 2006 10:53 PMI'd be all for public transportation to my place of employment so I could knit, but um, it's like 2 miles from home. Cute pictures on the bus.
Posted by: Dana at November 2, 2006 04:38 AMLooks like it was a blast. :D Public transportation. What a novel concept. I wonder when Denver will really get it done so I can start using it.
Hey Stacy,
I just posted my latest podcast and recounted the tale of exactly what happened to the yarn I spun for you before it was mailed. =) theknittingcook.com
