So, I've got a confession to make. On Saturday afternoon...I just couldn't take it anymore. I never, and I do mean never, work on just one project at a time. (many of my friends and knitting buddies can attest to that) I have consistently been knitting on my Ariann sweater, and only my Ariann sweater for the past 17 days. We needed a break though. Luckily, a friend stopped in at the shop while I was working and started talking about her Jawbreaker Cardigan that she had just finished. I remembered my fascination with that sweater from the Winter 2006 Interweave. I also remember thinking that I would never buy the yarn that it called for, Colinette Prism at $23/skein and I'd need 7 skeins! Imagine my delight when I realized that Patagonia Cotton from Araucania was the right gauge! I cast on that very evening. I do realize that I could have worked on my Sienna Cardigan, or any other project that I had on the needles...but I wanted something new. I had the pattern, I found the yarn, I was ready to go.

All of a sudden, I had 10 inches of the back knit. It's amazing how much faster it is to knit on a size 10.5 needle. Just to show you how pretty the Patagonia is, here is a closeup of the yarn. It's color 206. (click here for the closeup) The other knit in the picture is a sample for the shop. I'm knitting a little shawl from a Cornelia Tuttle Hamilton Noro book with a new yarn from Plymouth, called Boku. You hold the yarn doubled and knit with a size 15 needle, this one is a super fast knit too. It was nice to be knitting on something other than Ariann for a few days, but now I'm back on track with her. All is right with our relationship, and I'm happily working through the increase section.
*do you recognize where the title to this entry came from? It's a classic!*
Posted by Stacey at February 20, 2007 02:13 PMIt's Friends. I still love that show. It's one of the few that I can watch the reruns over and over...Beautiful cardi...Love the colors...
Posted by: michelle at February 20, 2007 05:33 PMGood ol' Ross and Rachel! The new sweater looks lovely, and sometimes you just need a quick knit.
Posted by: Jodi at February 20, 2007 06:48 PMRoss milked that line for all it was worth. Love the new starts--now you'll have plenty to work on when we meet up ;)
I got another ditty bag today(I mean I needed something to put my afghan squares in, right?)
Posted by: Kim at February 20, 2007 07:13 PMWow, I love the yarn and that Plymouth stuff, it would make a really cool Lady E!
Posted by: Terri Lynn at February 20, 2007 10:37 PMI am finishing a jawbreaker cardigan myself (wool, not cotton). It's a very nice pattern, but of course I had to make 'some' adjustments...
Posted by: Dominique at February 21, 2007 06:44 AMIts totally from Friends. I really love that Patagonia cotton it is so pretty.
Posted by: StacyZ at February 21, 2007 07:22 AMLovely colors! I have heard some horror stories about the frequent breakage of the Plymouth Boku, along with a lot of knots in the skeins. Have you had any problems with it?
Posted by: K. Anne at February 21, 2007 08:51 AMFrom Ross of course to Rachel.
Posted by: Kathy at February 21, 2007 09:00 AMEven I, who am perpetually horrible with remembering quotes, know that is from Friends. You know I want that Jawbreaker Cardi now from the same color yarn, darn you!! :-)
Posted by: Wanda at February 21, 2007 09:16 AMPsst, Glad you and Ariann are on the right track! (hahaha!)
Posted by: Wanda at February 21, 2007 09:16 AMFriends, of course! I sort of miss the Ross and Rachel saga. I loved that show. I may have had myself convinced at one point that they were actually MY friends! Ha!
Posted by: Cheryl at February 21, 2007 01:12 PMClassic friends - I'll never let Drew live down his crush on Rachel - remember the Jennifer Anniston song he wrote? I love the color for your latest started project!
Posted by: Whit at February 21, 2007 02:54 PMFriends, of course! But the break excuse didn't work so well for Ross. I hope you have better luck with it! All your work is gorgeous!
Posted by: Lisa at February 21, 2007 03:39 PMAhhhh...classic "Friends". Now here's a question...who's side are you on? Ross or Rachel? PS. I just rented the first season of Grey's Anatomy and I am HOOKED!
Posted by: Karen at February 21, 2007 04:47 PMAm I the only person who has never seen Friends? Oh well. And what's with Addison getting her own show (Grey's)?
Your new yarn is very pretty. I'm struggling to resist the new yarns coming out this spring.
Posted by: Joanne at February 22, 2007 09:50 AMGorgeous Patagonia! I recently purchased the same yarn in red for Jawbreaker. I think it will be a perfect spring sweater.
The Boku is very pretty, but I'm on the home stretch of a KP & S cardi, and it breaks very frequently and without warning.
Posted by: candace at February 22, 2007 11:25 AMI came across your site while on another site and really enjoy it. I love your pictures and cat and yarn. I even read your Dad's site. I hope he is doing well. I knit in Lou. Ky.
Posted by: Colleen at February 22, 2007 11:42 AMIt was good while it lasted though, right? Maybe you are a serial monogamist?
Posted by: Cyn at February 22, 2007 04:02 PMFriends - Ross and Rachel - Season 3, I believe. Now that was good TV.
Posted by: Sarah at February 22, 2007 05:33 PMFriends of course - I love it! Now you have me itching to knit something with some bigger needles too!
