My time this week has not been my own...and that is partly my fault I'll admit. I do have a tendency to overbook myself. But, I do have to say, one of the highlights of my week was spending the day with my niece and nephew on Wednesday. I think that I had more fun then they did! We played hospital, complete with bandages, scrubs, and everything else you need to wrap up a good head wound. Needless to say, it was great fun.
A few days ago, I was asked by KnittyOtter, just how many afghans I actually have on the needles. I decided to answer that question here since I'm sure there are more than one of you that are curious.
Here are my afghans that I have on the needles:

Lizard Ridge afghan: I have knit 3 squares, and then something else came up and took a higher priority (either class samples or some other sample for the shop that I work at). I have plans to continue to work on it, I'm just not in a huge hurry.
Baby Modern Log Cabin (from Mason-Dixon Knitting): All the girls in my knitting group were knitting this afghan and I jumped on the band wagon. I have knit the first little square and thats all. I'm knitting it with 4 colors of Brown Sheep Cotton Fleece.
Mod on Mod (from Yarn Play): I have finished 7 of the 20 squares. I'm about to cast on for the 8th square today over lunch.
Friendship afghan (using the Rambling Rows pattern): This is an afghan where people have sent me yarn to knit a square that will represent them. Most are knitters/bloggers that I've met through my blog. I have been working on this afghan off and on lately. I plan to do an update here on my blog about this project in the next week.
Patagonia/Nature Cotton Mitered squares: I'm not sure how much of this I'm actually going to knit right now. I've completed one whole square...but I know that I could easily get way into this afghan and I want to finish the Mod on Mod first.
Afghans not yet on the needles:

Harry Potter "House" afghan: (my own design) A bunch of the girls that I knit with decided to make an afghan using the Harry Potter house colors. I haven't cast on for this one, but all of this yarn, save one color, just came in to the shop and it's in my possession now. I'm using Plymouth Encore to knit it, so this one will actually be washable.
Tahki Cotton Classic afghan: I have been saving Tahki Cotton Classic for about 2 years now, with the thought that it will one day be a mitered square blanket like the ones that Kay, of Mason-Dixon knitting, has made a bunch of.
Cynthia Afghan: This is yarn that I picked up a couple months ago in a random moment. Love these colors, no plans to start this one anytime soon, so into the stash it goes!
Hope this is fun for you to see...it's at times a little overwhelming, but then I just remember that there is no deadline with any of these afghans....and that makes me feel better! Have a great weekend everyone!!
Posted by Stacey at March 30, 2007 10:38 AMYou are a brave woman, Stacey! I have a whole room dedicated to knitting (in the green shade I love) and am really rather embarassed to state what I have not started/completed. One of my friends, who has knitted all her life and is a peppy 83 years old, is always on me to complete Husband's sweater from a few years ago. I may have a terrible excuse...part of it was in luggage lost from an Alaskan trip and the yarn cannot be found again. Still, I do hope I get that bag back. Happy weekend!
Posted by: julie at March 30, 2007 11:48 AMI think that in the long run you are knitting heirlooms with household items, and you also get to be more creative with color and texture that may not appeal to you in clothing. Don't be ashamed!! I love everything that you knit and I don't have a lys so I like seeing any kind of yarn that I'm unfamilar with.
Posted by: Amy Weaver at March 30, 2007 12:19 PMWow! Looks like you guys re-enacted your own episode of Greys--what type of catastrophe caused such a mass casualty incident?
That is a lot of afghans. I was hoping the blue would have shown up when I was gone, darn it! I know you must be wondering how many squares I finished on HP while I was away--the answer would be none(I don't know why I thought I would have time to knit with 5 children under 7 hanging around).
Have a great weekend--maybe I'll see you at some point :)
Posted by: Kim at March 30, 2007 01:59 PMWow, that's a lot of afghans! And here I was feeling guilty that I have 3 afghans on the needles. Thanks for making me feel better. I am looking forward to your update on the rambling rows afghan.
Posted by: Oiyi at March 30, 2007 03:01 PMWhoa, that is a lot of afghan projects on the needles. I started the modern log blanket and I finished a square and that was my first and so far only trip into afghan making. I am interested in the Harry Potter blanket.
Posted by: Monica at March 30, 2007 03:52 PMYou go girl! The more the merrier, I still adore that lizard ridge one. I never have even attempted to start one of those. I'm still working on finishing my log cabin afghan I started last summer. I also have a few mitered squares, but there's no hurry on either of these. Other projects come up and catch my interest, and I can always come back to these anytime I want is how I look at it.
Posted by: Danielle at March 30, 2007 10:01 PMWow, that's a lot of afghans! They all look and sound beautiful. I'm about to start my first, inspired by your and Cara's miter squares. I've already a bunch of the Nature Cotton and as soon as it gets here, I'm on my way! I can't wait.
Posted by: Legally Knit at March 31, 2007 10:17 AMI envy your incredible stash that allows you to have so many great projects going! I'm so uptight about how many projects I have going at once (which I am almost embarrassed to say can never be more than two or I just freak) so seeing your WIP's is like sneaking a peek at something forbidden. Knit on!
Posted by: Allyson at March 31, 2007 01:06 PMLove it! :D
Thanks for the photo-update & the email. Been running around like crazy and never had a chance to reply.
This is too cool. I have a friend who is gathering her yarn to start Lizard Ridge. Great to see how it's knitting up for you. :D
