Kicking it up a notch!

For the past month, on an almost daily basis, I've been watching Cara's blog and have been witness to the amazing things that she has been doing with mitered squares. Seriously. It rocks! She has now knit 100 miters...in what seems like a few weeks. Crazy...but I love it! Over the weekend, (yay for natural lighting!) I pulled out all the different colors of Tahki Cotton Classic that I have in my stash. I'm not going to cast on for this afghan yet, by any means, but I am going to dream about it. I need to finish at least one that is on the needles before I will let myself cast on. I'm at the half-way point with my Mod-on-Mod afghan...so it may be sooner than I think. If you haven't checked out what Cara is doing, please, go now!

It doesn't look like it from the picture, but there are a few neutral shades. They are all the way to the right...kind of cut off a little bit. I do tend to be drawn to the bright colors, don't I? Some of you may have noticed my new gnome. I picked him up about a month ago and he still doesn't have a name. He's holding a lollypop in one hand and a half eaten cupcake in the other. I just couldn't resist!!

*Beth asked me in the comments to share what kind of yarn my Seraphim is knit from. I bought it last year at the Estes Park Wool Festival from a yarn company called "Plain & Fancy Sheep & Wool Co.". As far as I know, they only sell at festivals...and only at 4 of those a year. They don't have a website that I'm aware of either. Sorry Beth!*

Gee, Stacey. Stash much? All of that is just one type of yarn???? I'm in awe. Maybe a little frightened.

Crap. I see colors I don't have! ;-)

I think his name is "Dex", as in dextrose (component of sugar). He just doesn't have the coloring to carry off "Sucre".

Lollicup. Gnosher. Gnibbler.

Most of that TCC is new, right? at least since we indexed?

Whole lotta cotton going on! Looks great, Stacey!

I am still knitting away on my Mod on Mod and hoping I don't run out of yarn.

Your cotton is gorgeous!

Jenn should see the koigu stash ;)

So is most of that recent acquisitions or has it been lingering in the stash for a while :)

I like the gnome.

yummy Tahki, I love your taste in colours!

Hey! Where's Gnorman!?!
Nice colours by the way, that afghan will look fantastic!

Beautiful colors! I've been reading Cara's blog too and those mitered squares are amazing.

Gorgeous Takhi stash! And you can tell I have no life, because it took me under a second, without needing to look at the labels, to guess the brand of the yarn. I really must get out more.

I admire a girl who can bring stashing to new and dizzying heights. Bravo, girlfriend!

To quote the father from Everyone Loves Raymond, "Holy Crap!" That's alot of Thaki.

thanks so much for answering my seraphim yarn question (even if the answer was oh so disappointing!). i guess i'll just have to add it to the embarassingly long list of unrequited loves i've experienced in my life!

p.s. totally jealous of your takhi stash. i've been following cara's blog and her miters are awe inspiring. can't wait to see your mod on mod!

I'm also loving Cara's squares! Whenever I see them all laid out, I feel compelled to make one, too, but I just don't know if I have the wherewithall for a blanket again. Looks like with the colors you have, you'll end up with an AWESOME blanket! I just love bright stuff!

So I am almost finished with my Mitered blanket (all that's left is the crying, I mean seaming) and just discovered MORE microspun (which is what I was getting rid of from my stash by making the mitered blanket in the first place). You just gave me a brilliant idea of incorporating it into some sort of modified Mod on Mod afghan. Except it will probably be baby sized, as I don't know that I'll ever get through a full sized afghan again. Anyway, thanks for the great idea!!! Oh, and bright colors are the way to go on something like mitered squares, if you ask me.

The beads are cool and, yeah, I've been watchin' Cara's miters bloom with great joy and anticipation on what she'll do next, I lvoe your colors, it will be a surprise to see what you'll do.

Wow, you almost caught the rainbow in all its glorious colours.

Hey Chica! Check the weight on some of those skeins - I was in the yarn store the other day and saw some TCC - except it was actually TCC II (which is heavier than regular TCC) and it had a different color label. Not that you can't use them all together - but you might want to keep track. Have fun!
