Kim, Michaele, and I all braved the crowds and teenagers and went to a midnight showing of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix on Tuesday night. It was an adventure. There were quidditch matches and people "flying" around on their brooms. They would tear down the stairs, across the front of the theater, and then go out the door. Of course everyone was cheering them on. (not us though, we were too busy knitting) My favorite moment of the 4.5 hours that we waited in the theater was when two boys, who I'd guess were supposed to be Harry and Draco, were fighting in the front. It was very amusing. Wands in hand, casting spells at each other. Speaking of wands...

Kim brought her own wand along. She has the exact replica of Sirius Black's wand. You can get one too! Being that there were only a handful of people our age in the theater, we all knew that it was going to be a long and loud wait. To a knitter though, having 4.5 hours of time to sit and knit and chat with friends is a great thing. Overall, I was happy and entertained with the movie, and that is what I care about when I go see a film. I want to be entertained. I'll definitely be going to see this one again soon.

On a random note...right away I noticed that we were all sporting our Lexie Barnes "Lady B" bags. So fun!
Posted by Stacey at July 12, 2007 10:50 AMSounds like you guys had a fun time - wish I could have been there, but I would not have made it through a midnight showing!!
Posted by: Whit at July 12, 2007 02:21 PMoh. i c that i would not have been invited along for the midnight release anyway. I do not have a lexie barns Lady B. Glad you all had a great time. The people watching... the teen watching... makes me very scared.
Posted by: cyn at July 12, 2007 03:20 PMOoh, seeing those Lady B bags lined up like that makes me covet one even more!
Posted by: teresa at July 12, 2007 03:35 PMIt was SO much fun! Definitely worth the sleep deprivation.
I have to go see the movie at least two more times though--that's what we should drag everyone to some Friday--of course looking at the calendar I won't have a free Friday until August! Sheesh summer is flying by :) I may try to go again one night next week.
Posted by: Kim at July 12, 2007 03:43 PMWe did the same thing, but only waited for one hour. The room was filled with teenagers and just a few families (like us). But everyone was very well behaved and there were no broom races. :) Some people did dress up, though. I was able to knit most of a hat - until I ran out of yarn. It was a great movie and I'm glad you had fun watching it. Did you like Prof. Umbridge's office? :)
Posted by: Beth at July 12, 2007 04:36 PMI went to a midnight showing and knit my way to the opening credits, too! Our theatre wasn't as rowdy as yours, though. Sounds like you all had fun!
Posted by: Gena at July 12, 2007 07:01 PMNot only do I want to see the movie - your photo was the final straw in my resistence to the Lexi Barnes bag. I'll just have to bring my newly ordered bag to a different movie. :-)
Posted by: Kim at July 12, 2007 09:06 PMI worked 3-12:30 for the midnight showing of Harry Potter at my job.... blergh. I wish I could have knit. I haven't seen a single knitter in my theatre-granted it's a small theatre, but still. I always knit at the movies. However, tonight I'm seeing "Ratatouille" (for free, one of the few perks my job gives me) and I have no easy knitting.... I might have to start something in the next hour...
Posted by: Erin at July 12, 2007 09:10 PMOh you are wild and crazy women. such a fun image of you knitting at Harry. I love your bags.
Posted by: kathy b at July 13, 2007 07:09 PMOh that looks like so much fun! None of my knitting friends are Harry Potter fans, much less Harry Potter crazy like me. You're so lucky!
Posted by: Mary at July 13, 2007 10:19 PMWhat a great time! By the way, I also have that red Lady B. It goes wherever I go.
Posted by: Batty at July 14, 2007 08:39 AMI haven't gotten to HP5 yet but I will!! It sounds like you had a blast. BTW: I've been lurking for a while now. I've blogrolled ya!
