So much to talk about, so little time...

YarnCabinet.jpg

There is a definite plus side to rearranging everything in your house. All of a sudden you find that you have containers for yarn that you never thought of before. The big shabby cabinet above used to live in the dining room with antique baby plates and cups in it. I needed the space, so I packed up the antiques and thought, "why not put yarn in there? Duh!" I'm so glad that I did, I just love the antique look, but now it's filled with yarny goodness. Of course, no space can go wasted, so I've got more yarn in the buckets on top of the cabinet. I picked up these cute little sheepy guys a few weeks ago at Colorful Yarns. One is for needles and the other is to be added to my growing sheep coffee mug collection. The needle jar is already being put to good use housing all my wooden straight needles. The pottery is handmade by a local artist and I do love supporting local artists!

This weekend is going to be fun, fun, fun! Some of the knitting girls and I are heading for the mountains and our version of knitting camp, known to those around here as Camp Wannaknitknit. This is the third year in a row that we've done this, and it's truly one of the highlights of the year for me. There is going to be nothing but lots of knitting and laughter. We've outdone ourselves this year on the goodie-bags. This tradition all started the first year when I decided to make party favors for everyone. So, I made little zippered notions bags and votive candles for all the attendants. Then, the second year, Cynthia asked me, "what are we going to make this year?" To which I replied, "what's this we business you speak of?" So I did have more help with things the second year. Well...the planning began months in advance for the goodies this year. All will be revealed after the weekend is over. (I don't want to ruin the surprise after all!) I'll be internet-free from Thursday through Sunday...which means no Ravelry, no email, no blog...nothing but knit! I'm hoping to buckle down and finish a few things that are so close to being done. Cross your fingers for me folks. AND...I think that I may have been bitten by a sock bug because I have the overwhelming urge to cast on a sock...weird huh? This probably is due in large part to the amount of time that I have been spending on Ravelry looking at super cute pictures of finished socks. Alrighty...have a great weekend everyone!

I love the sheep containers. If I email Colorful Yarns do you think they could ship them to me? I love reading about your annual knitting trip. Oh, and I love the goody bags.

The cabinet looks great. I need to do some re-organizing as well for my room. I always get inspiration here.

I'm so sad I can't join you for Camp Wannaknitknit this year - maybe next year. I would love a weekend away from the kids to knit and hang out with fun women! The yarn organization looks great and maybe in a couple years Alice will be a knitter too.

Little Miss Alice is adorable and growing up and getting so big. I love the cabinet filled with yarn, too sweet! Very nice and the yarn buckets are great too. I just looked on the store blog today and noticed the sheepy mugs. I definitely need one of those. I can't wait for camp and the goodie bags!!!

Hi,
It was nice to meet you in Colorful Yarns today (I'm the English girl that was wearing the pink Zulugrass beads).

You'd asked about the beads -- where there might be a local store that stocks them. As luck would have it, the Zulugrass site has a store locator and there are quite a few places that stock them in this area.

See: http://www.leakeycollection.com/locator.php

Happy shopping!
Sam

PS - I love your yarn display case!

Hi, Stacey. Love your new living room! Next week I will be in the Denver area, maybe Loveland, then heading into the mountains toward Gunnison. What are your favorite yarn store picks? I have not really been anywhere except Lambspun in Ft. Collins, which I loved as much for the building as the stuff and people in it. I will probably only have time for one or two because it's not what the rest of my family likes to do. If you know of anything in the mountains near Almont (I know....) I'll have more time there. Love reading your blog and seeing what new bags you have. Thanks!

Love the cabinet! My boyfriend and I have a similar one that is shorter that we keep our T.V. on. It has screens in the doors and on the side and I think its called a canning cabinet? People used to keep them on the porch I guess. Anyway, I am fantasizing about filling it with yarn now :)
