I got to participate in Special Swap this round...and the theme this time was "A Summer Picnic". Beth was my swap partner...and boy did she do a great job spoiling me! I had a feeling that my package would arrive while I was out of town last weekend, and sure enough, it did. The minute I got home, I ran in, threw my bags down and tore into my package. You can see in the above picture who was also curious about what was inside. Lots of little white packages tied up with string. (totally have Sound of Music songs in my head!) Beth somehow knew just what I would enjoy. The little notes explaining each item were so clever. Okay...on to the goodies!

Where do I even begin...it's all so fun! I've been itching to get my hands on the "new" (at least to me) Amy Butler book. Now I have a copy of my very own! Yippee! There are about 15 projects in there that I want to make...if only I had a few more hours in the day. Someday I'll have time to sew. Then there is the yarn. I love it. It's Interlacements Tiny Toes in a very pretty fruit colorway. I have to be completely honest here and say that I already own 2 skeins of this yarn in this exact colorway. But, do you know what that means?! Obviously I love it, since I've already purchased it for myself before, and now I have enough yarn (4 skeins total) to make something bigger than a pair of socks. Bonus!

She sent 2 bags of my favorite kind of gummy bears, Haribo. They are the only kind of gummy bears to eat in my opinion. I may or may not have ripped into one of the bags right away. There were cute little notecards, smelly grapefruit lotion, pretty coral colored beads, fun fabric, and last, but certainly not least were the handmade items. This just blew me away. She made me a pretty pink pin cushion (or a Barbie ottoman as she called it!) with cherries on top. Simply gorgeous. You might have been unsure of your skills, but believe me, they are stellar! I love the little embroidery on the top. Click here to see a close up. Plus, she included a little olive green felted bowl. I can't tell you how many times I have meant to make one of these up and just never got around to it. Click here to see a close up of the bowl. Thanks so much Beth! You made my first round of Special Swap a true joy!
Posted by Stacey at September 6, 2007 09:20 PMoooh what a nice swap partner you had!
Haribo are my favorites too.
Except for this candy company in NW Indiana called Albaneese. They make really REALLY good gummy bears and sour gummy worms that are literally too sour to eat. But the bears...i will have to go out there and get some for you sometime. They would have to be sent in a ziplock bag since their shop is directly located in the factory, but they are worth it.
forgot to say yesterday love the chucks!
Wow! What great stuff :) I love how she wrapped everything.

Posted by: Wanda at September 7, 2007 10:20 AMGREAT picnic gift, Stacey! What a fun package for you....I'm so glad you had a good first round of Special Swap~!
Posted by: Lynne at September 7, 2007 10:56 AMVery fun! And having everything wrapped individually is so cute. Does she know you or what? :D
Posted by: Michelle at September 7, 2007 11:39 AMI'm so glad you liked everything (even that Barbie ottoman LOL!). I loved the colors and the colorway name of the yarn (too bad the colorway name wasn't on the label!). I'm glad you'll be able to make a larger project now - or matching socks for you and a friend! :) It was so nice having you as a swap partner.
Posted by: Beth at September 7, 2007 02:51 PMNow that was fun swap!

I just adore the brightly colored yarn, so pretty.
