My Sienna Cardigan is finished!

Sienna_CollarEdge.jpg

I seamed up my Sienna Cardigan on Friday night and Sunday morning...and let me just say, I love it! It's buttery soft, like only Malabrigo yarn is. It's a hot shade of pink, love that. And, it's cooling off, so I actually wore it around the office a little this morning. The cooling off here in Denver hasn't helped with the modeling shots though. Hopefully that will happen this weekend if the weather cooperates. I also need to find some thread so that I can sew on my fun buttons before I have a photograph session. Do you remember the ones that I picked up last year at Colorful Yarns? Vintage buttons, gotta love that, right?! I wasn't going to confess this here on the old blog because it seems so wrong, but this is actually the first sweater that I finished for myself. I mean, I've made stuff for my niece and nephew, but this is the first FULL-SIZED garment to be finished and worn on my body. I've got many sweaters in progress and many that I've ripped out over the years...but this sweater is the first. Crazy?!

Hey there! I came across your blog while looking for pictures of some completed Gryffindor scarves, and ever since then, I have been reading your blog.

You are such an amazing knitter and the cardigan looks absolutely gorgeous! Great job!

Congratulations! Your Sienna Cardigan looks gorgeous in that Malabrigo (and I'm sure it feels pretty nice, too!).

Its not crazy that its your first finished one! I am knitting on sweaters for others all the time--and for me--and yet I still only finish about 2-3 for myself in about a year!

And yes, knitting for others can really slow you down. I always have a sock going and they certainly cut into my sweater time.

Take the FOs where you can get them!

WOOHOO! Good on for finishing that sweater for yourself. Can't wait to see more pics.

Ooh! Can't wait to see the modeled shots! It looks great!

I love hot pink. I can't wait to see the model shots. I know it will be beautiful. I'm working on 2 different pieces for me, a vest and a 3/4 sleeve pull over. But which ever I finish first will be my first sweater for myself. The little ones are so much easier to finish.

It's a beautiful sweater! I'm looking forward to seeing you model it. I wanted to make that sweater last year, but ended up making the Central Park Hoodie instead. After seeing yours, I think I need to knit Sienna!

It's funny how hard it is even us "accomplished" (i.e. garment) knitters to take the plunge and wear what we create. The first one is always the hardest. It gets more thrilling each time you wear it and get to say, "I made it," when someone asks you where you got it. Enjoy your next couple of cardi outings as the weather cools off!

Beautiful! You should be proud!

That is soooo pretty. sigh. I'm just going to have to buck up and knit it. I tried change my mind, but your Sienna is so gorgeous, I will probably just have to go for it. Lovely, lovely sweater.

Congratulations! It's lovely and I hope you wear it in health and with pride. :) You inspired me just this weekend to finally cast on some Malabrigo (turquoise, as bold as this pink), though I got a different gauge than the Sienna Cardi called for, so I went with a different pattern. I got about 17.5 stitches over 4 inches, instead of 16. Are you a gauge-checker/swatcher, and if you did go for the 16 st gauge for Sienna, did you like the fabric you got?

Thanks for indulging my nosey-poo questions, and again ENJOY and pet it for me. Hooray Malabrigo!

Very pretty. I'll have to have a look at that pattern,
