Busy, busy, busy...

Things have been running full speed ahead around here since I found out that I'm going to Russia. Things need to be cleared up at work so that I can be gone for a week with a clear conscience. Have to clean the house up a little so that I don't return to a mess. And oh yeah, did I mention that I had to have a partial root canal on Monday? Sheesh. I can't wait until Friday! One of my friends asked me how you can have a partial root canal? Well, my dentist killed the nerves, packed some sort of medicine in the canal, and then put a temporary filling on it. I get to come home and have him finish the job. Fun times! Everyone that I talked to said that I had to have this done though, that I would be miserable on the plane and in a foreign country with a tooth ache. I tend to agree with them.

I found out a few days ago that when we fly to Russia, we have a layover in Paris...so I guess I'll be using that passport to fly to Paris after all! On the knitting front I still haven't decided what I'm going to take with me. I've been knitting here and there on Alice's sweater and the Mystery Dad project. I've made a little progress on both of those. I'm just going to keep plugging away at all these projects...one row at a time, that's what I tell myself.

My Dad flew down to Houston today, and he'll have his third MRI/bone scan/cat scan tomorrow, Wednesday the 3rd. Please pray for these results. We all want some good news. His PSA has been rising in the last few months so he and his doctor will decide this trip if he is going to stay in the clinical trial or not. Please pray for wisdom for the doctors, nurses, and technicians that will be working with him.

Thanks to everyone who offered up their travel advice. I've printed all your suggestions and put them in my travel file. (yes, I'm a nerd. I made a travel file) Okay, I need to head to bed...lot's to do tomorrow. Only 2 1/2 more days until go time!

I don't kown very well if you will a have a little time to spend in Paris but,if you have it, go to LA DROGUERIE, 1 rue du Jour , 1er arrondissement (I think it is in the subway the stop at "Les Halles" or may be the best is to take a cab but it's more expensive !). They have thousand nice things and yarn too !!! with their own patterns.
I discovered your blog recently and it is the first time that I write a comment but I thing your next travel to Russian to help for an adoption very great.
Sorry, I live in France 3 hours far from Paris (in West not so far from the sea)I could not help you :-(((
Have a nice and quiet travel ! I hope you will write your journey on you blog......... ;-)

What an exciting adventure you're taking! Enjoy it all. Thinking good thoughts for your father, too.

I didn't realize you were going through a root canal. It's so weird having that partial, flat tooth in your mouth - isn't it? And MUCH better not to travel with a bad tooth. I'm sure dental care is better in Russia these days than it once was, but a Ukrainian friend of mine went to a US dentist for the first time - who was shocked to discover that all her old Soviet-era fillings were made of CONCRETE!! Ugh.

Hope you wore your toothy skirt!!

I'll be thinking of your father and your whole family! Best wishes for all of you.

Have a wonderful trip. It is so exciting!
Thinking of you all.

I didn't know you had to have a root canal done either. Yikes. But definitely better than having possible pain on the flight and/or dental emergency in a foreign country. Just not something you want to deal with.

I'll definitely keep your father/family in my prayers.

Good luck in getting it all done before you head off to Russia. Sounds like so much fun!!

Oh, it's going to be so exciting, Stacey! I love that you have a travel file!

What a bummer that you had to go to the dentist, and will have to again after you get back. But I'm sure it's much better than having tooth pain on the flight or problems while in Russia!

Very cool that you get to stop in Paris!!! Maybe you'll have enough time to enjoy some of the sights :)

I really hope they will have good news for your Dad!

How long is your stop-over in Paris? Long enough to get out and see the Eiffel Tower?

Have safe travels and lots of fun in Russia!

A prayer for your dad is on its way. ONe for you too. And for all the folks involved in caring for your family

Oh Stacey. Your Dad's name comes off my fridge prayer list and I am over the moon. It goes back on and I weep. Please tell him my husband and I are praying for him and your whole family. And of course for you to feel better and have a GREAT trip!

Man, you sound so chipper in your post, sorry we gave you a bug the next day - glad you didn't get sick on the plane though - always better to be puking at home. Love your super sorry sis (and her kids who gave it to you)!

Hey, I recall you had some other root canals about a year ago? I wonder if you'd benefit from a night guard (bite guard). They're about 500 bucks, but they helped my nerves calm down in my teeth. I think out of three possible root canals, now I only need one. Grinding your teeth can give lots of the same "signs" as teeth whose nerves are dying. Please consider getting a night guard when you get back.
